Wlad wasn't protected by VADA as one famous boxer from Alabama :) but of course it is joke

It would be nice, and I hope that this fight will happen, although I have some doubts after Wilder turned down $3 million offer to face Whyte

If Hearn was so certain of the outcome, he wouldn't have put up such a roadblock. It's not hard to sell that fight at all against an unbeaten American with huge KO ratio, holding the WBC strap.
I expect Joshi to KO Wilder cold, but I can also see the dangers of that bout.

Problem is Wilder will want 50-50 split but won't bring any money in to justify it.. AJ is already getting 20 million purse fighting a no one, why would he let Wilder have any more.

WBC strap?? Who has he fought??? KO ratio, David Price can ko bums. Wilder brings nothing...

What Hearn is trying to do is make it so Wilder becomes known so to get them more money..

I doubt Wilder will ask for 50/50, he may want it but even he isn't that deluded to think he can get that when he brings nothing but a belt to the table.

But you bring up an interesting point. Wilder may price himself out of any fight with Joshua. Fact is Joshua doesn't need him and he won't be willing to take a pay cut just to meet Wilder's purse demands. He wanted 7 mill for whyte so will want at least that for Joshua, probably 10 mill. That would only leave Joshua 15-20 mill himself, he won't accept that unless more revenue can be generated through US TV.

If Wilder in any way shape or form criticizes this Whyte "tune up" fight in the UK then we know he's not interested in fighting AJ at all. It has to happen in the UK. Wilder AJ won't make any money in Vegas or elsewhere in the US because Wilder is NOT A DRAW.

No more of these Alabama bum fights for Wilder. It's time to grow up.

Joshua has to fight Szpilka or Washington in Alabama, right now he's totally unknown here.
He needs to build this fight up before getting a shot at King Wilder.

Wilder can't fight outside Alabama. He crumbles mentally without his Alabama fans who also won't go outside Alabama.

It makes more sense to make this fight that it does not to, from a promotion point of view. Wilder may be this and he may be that but what he isn't is a ticket seller or ppv seller.

Sometimes fighters with wild, unorthodox offence might spell more trouble for a fighter with orthodox style.

Now, Joshua would rightly be the strong favourite, but the risk doesn't seem to match the reward for Hearn yet.

I don't like Wilder and a fight against Whyte is
clearly a setup to gage him against another common opponent
but at the same time, no champion "has" to fight a lower tier
guy to get a shot at a peer (another champion). That's ridiculous.

Wilder should fight Parker, or work to make the Ortiz fight happen.
If he went through either one (a big if) and won, that's enough
of a bargaining tool to call for a Joshua fight IMO

The problem is Wilder thinks he's "the man" and doesn't think he should need to fight anyone to get a fight with Joshua. That's why he already turned down $3m to fight Whyte. He won't play Hearn's game, even though he would benefit enormously. Wilder is not a good businessman, which is why he's still relatively unknown after 38 fights.

I'm note sure why Whyte should be Joshua's gatekeeper, but all Wilder brings is a strap. He has no proven pedigree. His best career wins are a points decision on Buffet Bermane and a late stoppage on a pastry chef who gave him a pizza face.

    This.

There isn't any money in US heavyweight boxing anymore. The UK is where it's at now. Fighting Whyte would not only show the British public what Wilder's all about (and hyping up Joshua vs. Wilder in the process), but Wilder could get a career high payday simply from fighting Whyte (by a long distance as well). Then by fighting Joshua, Wilder could get an even higher payday.

However, most likely Wilder won't bother taking this route as he appears to be content with fighting the same old, low-risk fighters for decent but relatively modest sums of money.

Question to everyone, What does Wilder do for the rest of his career if Hearn never gives him the AJ fight?
