You get no credit for clearing a low bar. Stivern was a buffet table champ only. Wilder turned out to be slightly less of a loser. Bully for him. Povetkin is a thoroghbred and will knock Wilder silly.
That's funny, do you know how bookies make money? With people betting on the favorites... They are always undervalued and if the upsets happen bookies cash in bigtime while they pay out peanuts if the favorite wins. You mostly make more money with losing twenty times in a row and then cashing in on the big underdog in the case of an upset than in betting on the favorite and winning peanuts 19 times in a row and lose all your winnings in an upset on your 20th bet. People want the immidiate "safe" reward and bookies play that card to earn their money. You expert
Wilder is not a big favorite. According to one place the odds are 1.8 to 2.2 in his favor which is kind of close. For example Luis Ortiz is 1.05 vs Thompson (21) and Chagaev v Brown is 1.45 - 3.5.
Actually the starting odds don't matter that much, and the expert ****ysts get it wrong often. The point is, the bookies can't lose anyway, because unless their starting odds are truly off in la-la-land they will always be able to adjust and balance the Wilder money against the Povetkin money. If odds are just "slightly wrong" it doesn't matter, it will just invite betting and get the ball rolling. I think Wilder has a great chance to win, despite his lack of skills. Povetkin was completely outclassed by Wlad, and I think the fighters he's faced since then were even worse than Wilder. Wilder being favourite makes some sense.
This kind of sucks, I was hoping more were dumb enough to believe povetkin was going to win, now I can't make easy money again. I only bet on sure things, and yes, many sure things in boxing. More sure things in boxing than any other sport, that's for damn surr
Why wait till fight night ? Even though I only bet right before events. Is it not true whatever odds you get that's what you get or does your ticket change as the odds change ?
I'm not betting real money on boxing. Too much corruption and things that can go wrong. I already lost enormous amounts of fake money on "certainties" like Pac beating Bradley (first fight), Wlad vs Haye under 9½ rounds, Floyd UD Canelo etc. Can you imagine how broke I'd have been if I bet on that for real?!
