Pretty much what you were going to say regardless of what happened tonight. You don't like DW and hate the fact that he keeps on proving the doubters wrong.
This thread.. Wilder is an elite boxer yet you call him "terrible".. he just ran into a very very good Fury tonight, in fact that was the best Fury I have seen. Wilder is at the top of the pile along with AJ and Fury for good reason.. he has some excellent skills.. and that power is unmatched. He lost tonight, but that doesn't make him terrible. Fury just was incredible.
Agree but Fury is also pretty terrible hey, his punching technique is mostly woeful. You bringing up Povetkin...Hmm think he would stand a good chance of knocking out both Fury and Wilder had he faced either of them tonight. Unfortunately for him he had to go against a real good HW in Joshua and got pummeled.
I dont dislike wilder, I dislike the fact that he cant box and gets outboxed against everybody and only wins via a lucky punch. I say gets outboxed against "everybody" because he'd only fought two guys who are anybody....top 10 guys... And I say "lucky punch," because thats exactly what they are...they are not thrown with and technique, merely winged in like a blind man in a bar fight and hope that one lands. On the contrary, he doesn't prove anyone wrong, he proves them right,! ...both Ortiz and fury made him look what he is..a very average boxer....I dislike how he gets away with it. It's a bit like watching a football match where one team dominates from start to finish playing fantastic football then in the last minute the other team score from a free kick that should never have been given that pings in off someones arse. It's frustrating to see him win fights without boxing...I'm a boxing fan, a fan of the art of fighting. This guy is just anti boxing.
So because he doesn't do it the way you want you don't like him? Lucky punches? Seriously? If he's so terrible why couldn't Fury or Ortiz knock him out or totally school him? Oh its because his power bails him out. Thats his thing. Some guys can box, some guys can crack and a rare few can do both. Sure DW isn't the most skilled guy in the world but to say he's "lucky" its flat out wrong.
He is shocking mate, any of the top 10 would out box him......they might get knocked out granted. Apart from a few jabs what boxing skills did he show? Awfull boxer, he landed flush with power shots maybe 5 times, I did see him throw a quiteqa few combinations.....onsisting of wild hooks to thin air Fury was great but he wasn't at his best. Look he is where he is because he has attributes.....devasting power, let give him credit where it's due for his weight his power is unreal...freaky leverage ..but please don't tell me he is an elite boxer
Wilder's performance only confirmed what I already knew in regards to a Joshua/Wilder fight, Joshua KO's him and does so brutally. Wilder's jab is a nothing punch, it's fine when he has a 6 inch height and reach advantage but against a similar sized opponent who doesn't have to reach in, it's a useless punch. I can easily envision Joshua's heavy jab alone grinding down Wilder. Wilder's finishing is poor and sloppy at this level. He can flail away at journeymen and old men gassing out like Ortiz and it's fine but at the top level he'll need more than windmills to stop the elite heavyweights. He can Fury down twice and was never able to capitalise, was easily clinched and his wild shots just never got close to the mark. Even if he drops Joshua I doubt he can finish him and will likely get countered if he tries like Fury was able to do both times he was dropped.
Wilders power has got him to this point in his career, his skill has let him down plenty of times but he has that equalizer which after tonights performance should be taken more seriously than ever. Wilder was running on empty, disheveled and getting outboxed and managed to find a lethal combo in the last round. He will be a serious dangerous threat to anybody while he is able to stand. But the way i see it is Wilder has power, Fury has skill, Joshua has power and skill. Joshua is still the top dog for me but any combination of these 3 can beat any combination of these 3 and in rematches they could all lose. All 3 have a very individual set of skills and styles that make for very interesting clashes.
Keep in mind ‘Monster Puncher’ Wilder hit Fury who supposedly has a weak chin with 2 clean shots right on the chin and didn’t turn his lights out or even have him getting back up on unsteady legs in the last round
