Fury is a more awkward and talented boxer than AJ, no doubt. But Joshua has huge power himself and some decent (not great) skills. He'd probably play it cautiously vs Wilder and absolutely mallet him with the jab. Wilder may have a little better power but he's got a worse chin (given that Featherfist Fury wobbled him) and AJ is much much better at actually landing the shots. I'd bet the house on Joshua dismantling Wilder.
He was outworked by a guy who has been on a diet for 2 years, who is completely ring rusty and is much heavier. We've seen what Ortiz's power did to Wilder..... We saw what Fury's skills did..... Now Joshua is undoubtedly more powerful than Ortiz, and more importantly much bigger. He doesn't have Fury's skills.....But is more skillful than Wilder. Joshua starts as heavy favorite, to a man who got schooled by a 2 year inactive fighter.
Wouldnt say massive. But if Wilder stays in the US, he isn't going to get a big fight.....And will probably kill off US boxing.
Doesn't need to. Wilder's stock is lower than it was at the start of the night. Tonight was supposed to be the night he was introduced to the American public..... The night the American fans at the packed arena knew who Deontay Wilder was..... The decision was greeted with almost unanimous boos. Tonight was the worst thing that could have happened for Wilder when trying to get a fight with Joshua. Hearn, will quite rightly, refuse a fight in the US. Warren, will quite rightly, point out that a fight at Wembley against Fury....Or even in Ireland....Makes both fighters more money than a rematch in the US. Wilder has a choice. Return to fighting bums in the US. Fight in the UK.
They would have done before tonight. Not necessarily because of the fight....More to do with Fury's lack of activity. Keep mentioning Joshua's name and they sell out Wembley.
I said before this fight the best thing for Fury in a perverse way was if he got robbed and the fight was scored a draw. We saw it with Lewis/Holyfield, Lewis before that fight was some Canadian who wasn't a Brit, the moment he was robbed vs an American loads of Brit boxing fans embraced him as one or our own. Fury before tonight was some Gypsy clown/madman, now he'll be hailed as a proud Brit by the casuals. Fury now after this robbery will be more popular than ever. This might not elevate him to Joshua levels of popularity in the UK but he's now going to be a good draw. Any fight in the UK now for him is likely to be PPV and make him millions, because getting robbed like that tonight likely won him an army of new fans.
