What AJ said in his Twitter is right. He fought Fury because he thought he was done. I thought Fury was done as well.

He lost but got a gift, but he saw he has the power to KO him. Now he's said he doesn't want any fight before the rematch. Translation = I don't want AJ!

Was not just Wilder and his team that though Fury would be a easy touch every fight fan in America did! Apart from a handful.

Ive thought that ever since i 1st heard it, near enough everybody either in the sport of connected to the sport said Fury could do with a couple more tune ups. Tyson Fury was picked because they thought he was a big name who many still saw as the Lineal champion who without doubt could not of been at 100% and his 2 return fights were not inspiring in any way other than the fact he was actually back in the sport at all.

People have been criticizing him for his resume, that needed to be changed so they looked for big name soft touches. Luis Ortiz is a big name but he was only picked after a string or average performances against sub top 15 opposition as well as the health problems. They also took on Fury, a big name, for the above reasons. They have been trying to add some solid names to the resume to try kill the argument that his resume is a joke and at the same time trying to protect Wilder by picking these big names at a time where they were extra vulnerable.

    Correct.

He took Ortiz on because of his previous sub-par displays, below-par health and the fact that his PED abusing was in the past. He almost got wiped out.

He took on Fury because he, like a lot of us posters and professionals out there, thought it was too soon for him. He also saw it as an opportunity to increase his worth in a fight vs AJ. He got a gift decision after being schooled.

Think it's been quoted as c$4m guaranteed earnings for Wilder in the Fury fight. He could have trebled that against AJ, but Fury was the 'safer' option.
