Wilder looked nowhere near as bad as haters predicted. How hard is it to give credit?

    Good post Rico.

However, there's not a snow***** chance in hell that GAYMAN sends his SHOWTIME fighter over to HBO to be steamrolled by Wlad.

    NOT A CHANCE.

The politics of Showtime/HBO are more than enough for GAYMAN to hide another woman beater.

Floyd-wife beater hiding from Manny under the guise of network dispute.
Stevenson-child beating ****** hiding from Kovalev under the guise of network dispute.
Wilder-***** chokerhiding from Wlad under the guise of network dispute.

All in common.....abusive to woman, being hidden for their very lives by Al GAYMAN behind Showtime.:hi::hi:

Why are you guys unable to give him any credit after last night? In the build up you said how he was going to get KO'd, so you obviously felt Stiverne was superior to him, he beats him convincingly and he still hasn't beaten anybody?
He proved himself last night and you guys who are not giving him credit are just pathetic, and you have a hate and dislike for him regardless of what he does.
Give the dude some respect and judge him for what he does in the ring, if he is poor then slate him but if he puts in a good performance like he did last night then accept it and give the guy some credit.

This fight is proof beyond doubt that he is a genuine contender, trouble is,he's a champion. To be true heavyweight champ in peoples eyes he will have to beat big Vlad. everyone is second best while he is there.

I'll give Wilder credit. He fought a smart fight. Like most on here, I had serious doubts about his ability to take a punch, and his ability to go the distance, and he showed he could do both. Now, it's true that Stiverne was maybe not as good a fighter or as hard a hitter as some of us thought, but the bottom line is that Wilder and his team had a gameplan and they stuck to it, and won the fight.

I disliked Wilder for sneaking to a title fight on the back of dodgy dealings, behind closed doors, as opposed to winning his right in the ring. Not to mention all barely breathing corpses he built his "career" until last night upon.

He did surprise me - he boxed with discipline, stuck to the right game plan and won a convincing victory against a perfectly legit HW. Yes, Stiverne was really nothing to write home about on fight night and made crucial mistakes.

Still, Wilders performance was classes above what I've seen from him so far and way better, than I thought he could manage. He dominated the fight and won by a huge margin.

If he keeps the same focus and discipline and keeps improving his skills - he'll be certainly a man to watch in the HW division. He needs to choose his next opponents well - too low and he'll lose credibility (and viewers interest), too dangerous and he may loose the title quickly.

Regarding a fight with Klichko - Wlad will beat the living **** out of him at the moment. If Wilder ever wants to fight WK he needs to up his game considerably. I'd say at least 3-4 title defenses and train like mad, before Wilder even considers such a fight.

Potential opponents - Chisora (he'll bring money and excitement and not that much of a danger), Peres (small), Takam (limited), Charr (limited, but former HW title contender, will bring some money), Pulev (only defeated by Wlad, limited defense skills), Povetkin (could bring ****loads of money, bit too small, but dangerous), Fury (good money, but big and hard to outbox on the outside). Probably in that order. Not to forget Areolla too - well know, limited, could bring good money and not too dangerous.

wilder needs 3 fights and 10-15 lbs before he fights fury much less wlad. lets not get ahead of ourselves here, wilder is still green. at this stage in his carreer wlad was getting tko'd by lamon brewster.

People need to forget about Wilder fighting Wlad anytime soon. Not only is that a fight that Wilder would probably lose, but Wlad has an exclusive deal with HBO. HBO booted Haymon from their network. Neither Haymon or HBO are going to go out of their way to work with each other unless it's a huge fight.

What you don't realize is that Wilder didn't allow Stiverne to do certain things. Wilder was jabbing OK for parts of the fight, he was fighting off the backfoot well. Wilder had excellent reflexes, evading Stiverne's clubbing hands.

In short: Wilder didn't make any of the mistakes Arreola did. Stiverne was just as good or bad as always. Just Wilder neutralized him so well.

Some will always find it hard to give credit as it is a loss of face to some
