Looking sharp?!? I saw 5 individual left hooks in 24 seconds while not turning into the punch properly, but starting from a lurching forward position. There was neither a single combination, nor well-executed form, nor can you tell the admittedly devastating power he has from those shots. Too heavy to throw combos?!? Guys with more bulk than him can put together punches with better technique & effective combinations. He is not even heavy for his height-even at his biggest. In part to his almost supermodel thin legs. Wilder has the physical gifts & heart to remain a top HW. Although he was more protected than most & is aging... But do not tell me that literally anything about those toppling-over, lurch & destroy, single & predictable hooks look "sharp".
Boom! Some fool was calling him the most murderous puncher ever earlier. Too funny. Just another hype train from the states. Choo choo!!
Malik will make him more vulnerable again. He should have stuck to the formula that worked for him….. by trying to teach him more and utilize different punches at this stage will only confuse him more then he is naturally. His left hook looks horrendous and openings galore
He's not going to become a left hook artist, he's just doing some basic work to sharpen up his coordination.
Hopefully Helenius shows up and doesn't do the Malik Scott Sparring partner dive.... Helenius sparred Wilder before the second Kownacki fight and spent a few weeks in AL with him... Hopefully this isn't some fishy BS... I actually think Helenius can beat Wilder. He has the tools.
Helenius is quite a good opponent for a first comeback fight. He seems to be more motivated than he has been in a decade.
I wouldn't say more motivated, he only lost Washington of all people 3 fight ago. Helenius was just fortunate that he has fought in his last two fights the same very overrated guy with no defence that was being groomed to be a soft/cherry pick for Wilder
I hope he blows Helenius out, just so we get to see him fight Joshua. All hail Usyk for upsetting the status quo.
Whether Kownacki was overrated or not (definitely very overrated), Helenius took the fight as the underdog and came in to it in better shape and with more vigour than the three or four years prior. That was a much more motivated Helenius than the one who fought Whyte - take your blinkers off. Losing to Washington three years and four bouts ago only reinforces what I'm saying. Helenius vs Wilder is a shoot out of sorts. The first time Helenius gets caught, he is pretty much done. Wilder is tougher, however. It will be interesting to see if Wilder is at all gun shy or a bit cautious. It might be hard to tell because he didn't do a thing against Ortiz in the rematch for 7 rounds until the knockout.
