Most importantly when all his contemporaries are retired, Deontay Wilder will have unchecked access to resources (as he wishes). At the moment, Wilder main numeric focus is on the bodycount...
How come people are on this thread mocking Joshua, Hearn and Matchroom? You think Wilder would of seen anything like 20 for the Breazeaele fight if DAZN hadnt been offering that? The Breazeale fight generated poor money, low gate and less than a million watched a none PPV card. This is not anti Wilder at all, good for him for getting as much as he does but i just see the AJ, Hearn haters on here yet they are the reason Haymon was prepared to take a financial hit to pay Wilder. Haymon took a loss on that event to pay Wilder. Wilder fans celebrating this Forbes thing should be thanking DAZN, Hearn and Joshua.
Even AJ vs Ruiz had many empty seats. Commentators said so during the fight and some camera angles showed them.
His purse for Breazeale was not $20m that’s if he went to DAZN it’s rumoured he got $8m. That’s why people laughed at him as it was less than half what DAZN offered
Deary me. So the promoter and network made zero money from the PPV. The both made base purses of $4m for Wilder and $3m for fury. The fight generated $24m in PPV in US and approx $5m in overseas TV rights. Of which the broadcaster takes approximately 35% (10.15m) and the promoter 20% (5.8m) leaving $13m the gate of approx $2m is also taken into account and split in the same way but promoters expenses of venue hire, insurances, security is deducted. So approx $1.4m added to the pot. The undercard cost also gets removed approx $2m hence why undercards often are not big names as it eats in the headliners purse. So they would split approx $12.4m giving Wilder a purse of $10.4m which roughly what was reported at the time.
God. I really hope he doesn't get swindled like Mike. I honestly think he's a good guy, but he grew up in such a poor area. How's he supposed to handle all that money? Be safe, Deontay.
Exactly....the NETT amount that you are left with is the more important. As they say in business; "Turnover is vanity. Profit is sanity"
Forbes is a reputable company and magazine and they are saying Wilder made $30 million in boxing purses from the Fury and Brazeale fight from June 2018 to June 2019. You can guess how his boxing purse between Fury and Brazeale which adds up to $30 million
I pray that he has the right people around him to guide hjm and assist him in protecting this windfall. I wish some of these boxers would talk to Larry Holmes who I believe was likely one of the most intelligent boxers concerning their money and handled his winnings in a very responsible manner.
Don't know what's more incorrect, claiming he got 20 mill for Brezeale or claiming that he earned anything from that fight in 2018.
Because he only fought brezeale about 6 weeks ago!! Clearly 2019. Usual wilder fan boy logic. Back to reality he got 12-14 mill from Fury fight and 8-10 for Brezeale.
