I still remember the day when Wilder brought his personal friend Malik Scott to take a dive. Just before the KO Malik blinked his eyes that he is ready to go and then boom he dives to the floor and gets the paycheck.
It was a clear dive in my opinion. The blink or wink, the innocuous looking punch, the fact when Wilder fell he was self aware enough to use his arm to cushion the fall and the fact his eyes were clear when looking up at the ref.
He didn't even get hit with that right hand and he sold it like he got hit by a baseball bat! Just Awful..
That dive got Wildebeast the vacant shot and has earned him over $5m verses a can carousel of cherry picks, was not a meaningless dive. I doubt Scott would have beaten Wildebeast but going by Stiverne/Molina/Duhapas/Spzilika he'd have been a live dog.
Cant allow myself to believe Scott took a dive that night. But at the same time I cant believe how that shot by Wilder even stuns anybody let alone knocks them out. Of all dubious knockout conspiracies ive seen, in slow mo, from all angles, this that and the other this one does look the most dubious.
The funny thing is that Wilder originally claimed that it was the power of his right hand that knocked out Scott through his gloves. Only later he switched the claim to his left hook that supposedly knocked Scott out.
The left hook did connect quite well, knocked some spray off of Scott's head. But I think he probably dived.
Yeah, but he was just practicing against Chisora. He didn't expect to be counted out there. Bruce Seldon used to practice diving too. Watch the opening seconds of Seldon-Ribalta, and you'll see Bruce rehearsing his diving skills.
he fell the same way against tony thompson and had that same look on his face off a shot that you wouldn't expect to put many heavyweights down with. i don't think he took a dive against wilder. that left to the temple did it
I just watched a multi angle multi speed highlight from showtime thats on youtube and maybe the left hook around the ear did it, the right certainly did not Funny I saw someone in the thread mention Seldon vs Ribalta and Bernstein on the broadcast mentioned the Bowe KO so I then watched the McCall TKO and 2 of the knockdowns if not all 3 were suspect and we all know about Tyson whats your thoughts on Seldon
He dived a lot. I'm not sure about the McCall fight, that was a tough fight, but I'll have another look. With the Bowe fight and the Ribalta KD it was almost as if he was auditioning for the Tyson fight. Years later he was rewarded and he got to dive on the big stage and throw away his belt with a fight. I agree about the Wilder-Scott, the left "might" have done it, in the place it landed. Maybe, just maybe.
