Whose ratings should Wilder listen to? Yours?

How do you think this sport works? Do you think all the fighters look at RING magazine's ratings to decide who their next opponent will be?

    :lol::nut

Do you think they ask guys like you on message boards who they should fight next?

    :rofl

They fight for titles and then they defend those titles against the contenders rated by the orgs they represent.

Occasionally, they get permission (from the org they represent) to unify with another champ.

If they win, they then have to defend against BOTH of those organizations' contenders. And they have to take turns. First they have to fight one org's top guy, then they have to fight the other org's top guy.

If they don't listen to the orgs, they get stripped.

    That's how THE SPORT works.

Apparently, you had no idea. I'm glad I could help you out so you don't keep embarrassing yourself. :hi:

How can any true fan of Wilder defend him after nearly 40 fights facing C and D opposition,Stiverne aside all he ever does is fight carefully matched opposition, please tell me why you'd want to see him fight Arreola and other carefully matched opposition?
Wilder is athletic, moves well and can seriously bang and clearly has a high pain threshold, you should be demanding he takes a 50/50 fight so he can prove he's the best no?

Do you really think you're smart explaining how voluntary defenses work? The point is Wilder s****es from the bottom of the barrel, and while he fights guys that are ranked they're guys who definitely shouldn't be ranked. What that apparently flew over your head is that ABC rankings more often than not are dubious to say the least, and they don't always speak to the quality of a fighter. EDUCATED fans take them with a grain of salt. You seem to think that if a fighter is ranked that they must be good. That's not always the case...

Molina, Duhaupas and Arreola were poor defenses against guys who really shouldn't have been rated in the top 15. Just because a notoriously corrupt body rates these guys doesn't mean the fans are. Wilders opposition since winning the belt has been dreadful and only a delusional FANBOY would go out of their way to defend it in the way you have.

That's not true. The IBF originally rated Povetkin as its mandatory in 2008. The fight went to purse bids. A date was set. But Povetkin, after a purse bid, backed out of a fight with Wlad claiming an injury. In 2010, the IBF made Povetkin its mandatory again. It went to purse bid. The fight was signed again. Then Povetkin didn't show up for the press conference and his trainer Teddy Atlas said he convinced Povetkin not to fight Wlad because he didn't think Povetkin could win.

After that, the IBF washed its hands with Povetkin. They were done with him.

Then the WBA let Povetkin fight for its regular title. Povetkin won, and he once again became Wlad's mandatory. Again, it went to purse bid. This time, Povetkin showed up and got destroyed.

After that, the WBA was done with him.

Earlier this year, Povetkin was rated #1 by the WBC and, I believe, #3 by the WBO. (Pretty high.)

The WBC wanted Wilder and Povetkin to fight last fall, but Povetkin wanted a tuneup. Wilder wanted to fight Povetkin in January, but Povetkin said he needed more time. (Now we know he had illegal drugs in his system.) Then the WBC held a purse bid. The fight was signed. Everything was a go. And then Povetkin failed his drug test against Wilder, getting that fight called off.

Within days, the WBO totally dropped Povetkin from its ratings. Like the IBF and the WBC, they don't want to reserve a title shot or stick their necks out for a guy who isn't going to show up.

The WBC would've likely dumped him, too, but Povetkin's promoter sued everyone (basically, to hold onto Povetkin's last chance ... because the other orgs were done with him).

    And that's where we stand.

Povetkin isn't rated by the others because he was the WBC mandatory. Povetkin was rated by the WBO the whole time he was the WBC mandatory. But they dumped Povetkin when he failed his test. And the IBF dumped Povetkin when they made him a mando twice and he backed out of both title fights.

And the WBA doesn't rate Povetkin, even though they have THREE champs of their own and are giving guys like Fres Oquendo shots.

That shows how well liked Povetkin is in the business.

"Educated" fans can take them any way they want. The "educated" fans don't represent those orgs as their champ.

And if you don't understand that's why the fighters make the choices they do, then you aren't as "educated" a fan as you think you are.

If you think Wilder has to fight the WBA interim champ next, like Soprano does, or the WBC is going to strip him, you're a novice.

Got it. When guys like Jennings, Pulev, Takam, Parker, Haye etc. are ranked you fight a shopworn Arreola.

Jennings is coming off two losses and hasn't won a fight in two years. Takam lost to Parker the day Wilder and Povetkin was supposed to fight, and Parker announced his next opponent the following morning.

I, personally, would've rather seen Wilder fight Pulev, Haye or Washington.

And I stated that when he signed to fight Arreola. But he didn't.

If they're still here in eight months, they'll be back up for contention.

Wilder refuses to fight his mandatory.....................4 voluntary defenses is really sad and unfair to other fighters................how many others can get by with that? 4 voluntary defenses against bums...............Arreola was unranked, the WBC ranked him #9 after Wilder picked him. Povetkin was cleared by WADA and should have had his title shot at Wilder, but Wilder is a protected fake fighter.............

Look, Wilder's intentions are clear. For the 4th tune up defense in a row he had to choose from top 10 wbc, and only 2 names we're available, nr 8 Jennings and nr 9 ( wtf !!!) Cris " shot to bits, coming out of suspension Arreola. Guess what Wilder team chose after floating Bryant' name around. Gary Shaw said they never received any offer. Wilder could've tried to KO Jennings faster than King Kong Ortiz and thus silence at least some of the critics. And you know that Bryant shows up in shape. Maybe that was the problem. It would've been a great fight for us the fans to watch, rather than the farce we saw.

So please dont mention Wilders selection of opponets cuz it's laughable, ALWAYS the 0 risk fight.

He's the most protected champ in boxing by far, even more so than Adonis. Anyone with half a brain can see all this
