Wilder offers 70-30, Ruiz wants 50-50

That's true, but Wilder has an Hispanic fan base as well. Ruiz should be happy with 30% since it will probably net him a few millions.

Ruiz will have the majority of the Hispanic crowd, Wider will have some too. 70/30 is a fair offer.

 

I agree; maybe Ruiz can use this fact to grab a higher percentage than 30% of the gate and the PPV.

 

Who the hell is Wlider requesting 70-30. It should be 50-50 as Andy is an ex champ who beat a far better fighter than Wilder ever did. Wilder scared perhaps.

Wilders vs Helenius was sold out, that was because of Wilder not the viking Warrior. Ruiz couldn't even sell out the war grounds in Carson vs Arreola. 70/30 is more than fair.

 

Is he though? Wilder sure has higher name recognition in regards that he was a title holder for longer and his fights with Fury were big fights where he made a lot of money. Wilder made a guaranteed $25 mill for the Fury rematch which was his highest purse.

Ruiz only made a guaranteed $9 mill for the Joshua rematch so based on these past numbers you are correct Wilder is clearly the bigger draw.

But fact is neither are title holders anymore, both of their careers are now on a downward trajectory and their ability to draw is now diminished and in this proposed fight they don't have a significantly bigger name to inflate their purses and must rely on their own ability to draw.

Looking at recent fights Wilder's last fight did 75K ppv buys and Ruiz's last fight vs Ortiz did 65K ppv buys. That's what both these fighters are now able to generate, not a huge difference. So based off this 60/40 seems reasonable.

But then Wilder has better options than Ruiz, fact is if this fight doesn't happen soon, Ruiz is left with no real prospective big fights, Wilder in contrast has a proposed huge fight with Joshua in Saudi Arabia. Ruiz needs to drop the 50/50 demand he isn't going to get that and Wilder has no reason to offer him that when he can just sit it out until the AJ fight and make his career high payday.

 

Sold out ? you sure. I do recall it was a flop of a PPV with an estimated 75k sales.

Yep and Ruiz/Arreola did 125K ppv buys in comparison but I think how Ruiz looked in that fight hurt his ability to draw as his fight with Ortiz only did 65K.

 

Ruiz's one win against Joshua shits all over Widler's entire career. 50/50 is fair.
