I get it. Usually the way to become a star is to be competative in a division where there already is a star, as it breads natural competitiveness. Is the King going to be dethroned kind of thing.

Unfortunately it didn’t happen in the States. Mayweather retired the king. Holyfield lost to Lewis, and once he’d retired the dominant fighters to overcome weren’t Boxing stars America took too.

Sure, there’s Canelo, but beating him doesn’t have the same prestige that past fighters had.

Long story short, there wasn’t a passing of the torch to one of your own, or one that the American people could take to. So, the torch died, and it’s going to take a lot of promotion to get someone back up there again.

The fact that Wilder isn’t or hasn’t been a star is shocking. Sure, it would take some promotion, but with the Klitschko’s there was a ready made story, but they missed the boat.

So true. Said it before, Wilder is a big, good looking American HW champ w/ charisma and huge KO power. Someone dropped the ball bigtime w/ him.

I would have Rocky 4’d it to the hills as Wilder was coming through. Sure, the Klitschko’s are Ukrainian, but it’s as close to Russia vs America as you can get, and as long as the masses buy into it that’s all that matters.

Now, as brutal as it sounds, if I were a promoter, I would build Wilder up as much as possible. I don’t think they can make him a superstar now, but they can make him PPV. But in the background I’d make sure I’ve got a young talented heavyweight coming through, to dethrone him, once Wilder reaches his American marketing Peak. And when he’s toppled, hey presto, a young American star is born.

So Hearns contract details are out and Hearn wanted a rematch clause only if Joshua lost, and wanted to choose a British referee and judges. It's pretty clear Hearn/AJ don't really have intentions of fighting Wilder, and they even wanted to guarantee British homecooking scores if it went the distance. Pathetic. No wonder they are scared of facing Wilder in Las Vegas for far more money.

The rematch is a given. We
Knew this. Have you got any links to the British ref and Judges claim?

Joshua should just go ahead and call Wilder's bluff! Wilder will not fight Joshua for any amount of money, he knows he will get knocked out and his fraud career will over!

Well there was an agreed neutral judge put in for Joshua,s last fight and people havnt shut up about him yet. Or does Winkle and Wilder want an American ref and American judges like he has had in about 95% of his fights.

Maybe Hearn is trying to find a counter measure to Wilders illegal punching which counts for about 50% of Wilders punches. So many punches to the back of the head in every single fight.

    Some context is required here.

The 50/50 demand is based on Wilder going into the fight a year or two from now having beaten guys like Breazzele and Fury.
It was an off the cuff comment he made to Brendan Shub , so too bad Wilder haters he isn't demanding any 50/50 split and Joshua is still ducking :smileysex1:

You sure? So Wilder has stepped back from negotiation and is going to beat Breazeale and Tyson Fury then he can come back to Anthony Joshua, in a couple of years, and demand 50-50. Where have you heard this?

He was talking about a hypothetical situation down the line. This 50/50 demand doesn't exist.

Well hypothetically if he did fight and beat Breazeale and Tyson fury down the line he still doesnt deserve 50-50. Trying to improve your resume at the last minute doesnt make you worth any more money. He needs to be selling more tickets and PPV,s many many more tickets and PPV,s.
