Did anyone see Eddie Hearn's twitter where he states that the Wilder/Breazedale fight will be on Sky Sports? Interesting development as I thought it would be on ITV based on Haymon's ties with ITV.

All sorts of interesting speculating here. Are Hearn and Haymon working together to build up the Joshua/Wilder fight?

I dont think you can read much into it, im just assuming Sky bid more than ITV. ITVs contract would be that they get first option, same as DAZN with Matchroom. Remember Dillian Whyte vs Chisora 2 was on Showtime cause they bid more than DAZN, didnt mean that Showtime were signing Whyte.

But why would Sky bid more than ITV. Unless there is a fight with Wilder in the offing, they get no benefit from showcasing Wilder.

With Whyte, it was simply that DAZN did not care for showing the Whyte fight in America. Whyte has no real profile in America and Showtime at the time was pitching to Whyte to come over to PBC. No one thinks that Wilder is coming over to DAZN or Sky.

Fair point, but why would Sky bid for the right to showcase AJ's biggest competitor? Eddie is no mug, he knows Brezeales chance of winning is low, besides he's already been dealt with. Ergo, this is about Deontay.

Adam Smith picks the international content, not Hearn.

Because they have a budget to spend on fights? Wilder/Breazeale outcome is relevant to Joshua, so of course it will hold plenty of interest and viewership.

Deontay Wilder was named the most famous boxer in the world by ESPN. Why wouldn't SKY want the most famous boxer in the world on their network? They are in the boxing business, aren't they?

Because Wilder will do decent ratings as he has become a known quantity with all this heavyweight hullabaloo.

I think they should have titled it the most searched for boxer.

"who the **** is this Deontay Wilder guy?"

    "dunno, I'll google him..."

"apparently he's a champion HW? Who knew?"

Call it what you like, but if he was actually famous he'd be packing out stadiums and generating large PPV numbers and cash... but he isn't is he?

The most searched for boxer, the most exciting boxer, the most famous boxer, the boxer every network is fighting over ... yes, that's Deontay Wilder.

I think one could make the argument Wilder vs. Fury was also the most STOLEN fight in boxing history. It had a low PPV total, but EVERYONE seemed to see it live via stolen streams.

The networks know that. That's why they are all in bidding wars for his services right now. Aren't they?

The argument that no one knows who he is has totally blown up in the faces of those who insisted on it. He's the hottest property in boxing. And his fights are always exciting.

That's why SKY wants him. They don't want him because no one knows who he is, Einstein.

TV networks have an incredible amount of pull in boxing and they can make a boxer if need be . Remember they can make fights happen regardless of promoters or commissions (Tyson Lewis for example) .

Could be SKY are actually trying to increase the leverage of both Joshua and Wilder in order to actually present a case for the two fighting regardless of Haymon's stance on anything , remember at some point if the networks want it and actually come together then its make or break , look at Bowe for example , the HBO executives wanted that Bowe Lewis fight , Bowe refused and his career became history .

If SKY increase Wilder's stock and show huge amount of financial interest for the fight they will work with BT , PBC and other networks in order to make the fight happen . Remember when networks do these cross-overs or multi-platform showings or interest (Olympics , World Cup, Game Of Thrones , Walking Dead etc) then it happens , however I'm still not holding my breath , I think Wilder will Bowe it and throw the WBC away and claim some conspiracy about him .
