Congratulations, very few people have cottoned on that people searching for an athlete likely know little to nothing about them, one of the reasons why team Wilder's crowing about Wilder's positioning looked pretty desperate once you'd looked at the list in question. Athletes were scored on three metrics, Search, Sponsorships and Social following. Wilder barely moved the needle on the latter two but scored a 100 on search, doubtless after the clips of Fury getting off the canvas went viral and people tried to work out who the idiot who thought he'd won the fight actually was. Fury trounces Wilder on social following. AJ beats him on Sponsorships and social following, but such is the weighting given to search that Wilder appears above them on the list and few people have the wit to look into it for themselves.
You say the world but hardly anyone knows who Wilder is in the whole of Europe other than hardcore boxing fans. Wilder won`t get as many viewers on Sky Sports as AJ will, people that rent sky sports know who AJ is a lot more of them won`t know who Wilder is, AJ is very well known to sports fans in the UK, Wilder isn`t at all.
So Fury is the SECOND LEAST KNOWN boxer in the world? Joshua is the THIRD least known boxer in the world? Canelo is the FOURTH LEAST KNOWN boxer in the world? And Manny Pacquiao is the FIFTH LEAST KNOWN boxer in the world? Okay (LOL)
My understanding is that ITV have first and last option on the Haymon fights. Meaning that if a bigger bid comes in they have the right to bid to atch it and secure the fight. However Sky will have a bigger budget and based on the standard of their fight nights in the UK this year they will still have a large part of their early year budget available to use. I believe Haymon's ITV deal more or less will be for fights that none of the other broadcasters would bid for beside maybe Boxnation. Therefore Hayon gets to announce a UK TV deal and ITV pick up cheap content that attracts a certain level of viewing numbers. Hearns deal with Sky is as the excusive UK promoter in the UK. Sky can screen any international fights they choose and as they are in the Joshua business it would be insane not to have showcase and build a relationship with his biggest rival. They want to put themselves in a key position for the UK PPV rights when the fight happens.
Wilder v Fury wasn`t even close to being as exiting as Wlad v AJ and wasn`t watched in the UK by as many fans.
Heard has already stated AJ is more likely to fight Usyk than Wilder and Usyk has signed wit Hearn, that fight will do great PPV numbers, it will be an amazing fight.
More people watched freaking Wilder-Arreola in the US than watched Joshua-Klitschko in the UK, Joshua-Klitschko on HBO or on Joshua-Klitschko on Showtime COMBINED. Who cares how many people watched Wlad-Joshua? What the hell does that have to do with anything?
I was comparing the impact AJ beating Wlad in the UK to the lack of reaction to Fury v Wilder here because you said the world, no way is Wilder more famous worldwide than AJ or Canelo.
Wilder vs Breazeale will get more viewers on Sky than Joshua-Miller will. I'd be happy to take BAN BETS on that.
You could be right, but Fury V AJ would be huge in Britain compare to Wilder v Fury, not even close on sky sports.
That's funny, because DAZN was offering Wilder just as much per fight to sign with them as they are paying Canelo. They actually offered Wilder MORE to fight Breazeale on DAZN than DAZN is paying Joshua for the Miller fight (Sky is paying half of Joshua's fee for the fight). DAZN and ESPN don't have bidding wars for guys nobody knows. Sky doesn't outpay its competitors to air the fights of guys nobody knows. This garbage argument has been dispelled. The networks themselves have shown how badly they want to sign Wilder.
Instead, should I take from your post that networks like DAZN and ESPN and Sky are engaged in multi-million dollar bidding wars to air the fights of a guy nobody knows? Is that your laughable deduction? The ESPN list states specifically Wilder is the most famous boxer in the world. You don't have a problem with any other fighters on the list. Just with the guy rated the highest, apparently, because it doesn't suit your false narrative about him.
