Camps of Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KO) and Luisa Ortiz (28-0, 24 KO) concluded an agreement on the fight for the WBC heavyweight champion title - said Mike Coppinger from The Ring magazine.

According to previous reports, the match will take place on March 3 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and it will be shown in the USA by Showtime television.

Ortiz and Wilder were originally supposed to meet between the ropes on November 4, but the anti-doping control carried out in Cuban showed the presence of forbidden diuretics and the fight was canceled. Ultimately, however, the authorities of WBC gave faith to Ortiz's translations that illegal substances were part of the hypertensive drugs and waived the penalty of disqualification.

I pick Ortiz by savage KO.

    Who will win and how?

Where's the option "the fight doesn't happen after Ortiz fails a VADA test on a trace amount"?

Wilder by KO4, and I say that as a big fan of Ortiz. He's not fast enough to pin down Wilder, and is susceptible to straight rights, especially from guys with a reach like Wilder.

I think Ortiz catches him before the 7th. Can’t wait to see Wilder do the stanky leg and try to stay upright. That will be as enjoyable as watching his skull bounce of the canvas.

    Wilder by KO.

I might be rooting for Ortiz though. Unfortunately both him and Rigo were avoided and only got/will get their big shot at an advanced age and it will tell. Wilder is less skilled but far more athletic.

I think Wilder has a style advantage with his height reach and speed. I don't think it will be easy though, even an old Ortiz is a level or 2 higher than anyone else he has fought so far.

Wilder should be able to box and move and win a decision but only if he doesn't get sloppy and if he can get Ortiz to respect his power. If he tries to impress and leaves himself open he could get punished badly, we've seen him rocked by lesser fighters and punchers. He needs to keep his hands higher and jab over Ortiz's jab to establish his own jab, don't leave his right hand by his waist or chest like he often does and move to his left to avoid Ortiz's left counter.

For Ortiz to win he needs to keep wilder on the back foot and take away Wilder's jab. He should use his lead right hand to catch Wilder's left jab's and keep that lead right hand high so Wilder can't jab over it. Wilder relies heavily on his jab, we saw that against Washington, without his jab and when on the back foot, Wilder is vulnerable and struggles to find his range. Wilder eventually like with Washington will open up and try to use his power to turn the fight his way, in that scenario Ortiz will then find opportunities to land his counter left.

I'll be rooting for Wilder as nobody likes a doper like Ortiz to succeed and I expect Wilder to rise to the occasion and win a hard fought points decision.

I will be rooting for Ortiz..But Wilder has the age, speed, movement, reach and the engine over Ortiz, and hits as hard.
Ortiz at this stage is to slow and will be kept on the end of the Wilders jab, until Ortiz shows signs of getting tired and Wilder might take some chances.
I think the only chance Ortiz has is if he can rush at Wilder early and hope he connects flush. But he will have to be prepared to take a shot to land one.
No way Ortiz will get a decision. He needs to stop his man.
Wilder by wide UD or late TKO.

Not seen too much but seen him dropped in amateurs

To me it looked more like a good shot and he was off balance but he got up and fought on regardless so it’s steady From what I’ve seen

I hope Wilder gets his skills exposed again and shows how sloppy he is. But I expect Wilders power to save him at some point...but we'll see. How much old man Ortiz has left? We don't know beyond the fact he is old and is showing signs of slowing down. He might just be able to pull this one out the bag, but I doubt it. Be an interesting fight while it lasts.

Unfortunately, I see the Hybrid KO'ing Ortiz as the Cuban is hardly prime and hasn't exactly looked stellar of late, that is of course if the fight happens at all......I'll believe it's happening when they start trading after the first bell.

Having said that thou, the Hybrids arrogance may get the better of him given he'll be facing an 'average' fighter, at which point Ortiz drops in a beautiful left hand counter, leaving the Hybrid twitching on the canvas.....here's hoping....and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!!!
