Wilder will struggle early rounds but as the fight goes on Ortiz's high blood pressure goes up, he'll be out of breath, plodding trying to catch the Bronze Bambi. Wilder takes him out late.
Not sure which I am looking forward to see more: this fight or Wilder's mental breakdown if Ortiz fails another drug test.
If this actually happens, I'm going to go against the grain and predict a Wilder UD. I personally think this will be a stinker. Ortiz is a hard hitting southpaw but incredibly slow and I believe to be at a reach and height disadvantage regardless of official listings. Wilder will be super cautious and stay at range all night, and "pile up" points with his "left hand" So this will play out like Stiverne I. Wilder scores his KOs with wild blitzes and he's not going to risk that here against Ortiz. Ortiz has a good shot at catching him though, I think this is the best fight Wilder can make outside of Parker, Joshua, and Povetkin. And I personally don't think Wilder wants it and the last offer was a ploy, this one may still be a ploy, but the guy has burned too many bridges and ran out of options.
I am going to be optimistic and say it wasn't a ploy this time or last time. Ortiz is a Haymon fighter so win or lose Haymon holds onto the belt. If something does happen to make the fight fall through I don't think Wilder can really come back from that, especially if they fight Kownacki (another Haymon fighter) instead who looks set to fight at the Barclays center according to boxrec it would just seem too much of a coincidence to happen again and for them to already to have a reserve ready to go on short notice.
Ortiz will test positive and receive a lifetime ban this time. Wilder has Stiverne on standby to complete a historical trilogy.
I'm thinking Wilder and his team somehow really thought the Joshua cash out was going to work. And with Parker and Joshua seemingly coming to an easy agreement right away, they really don't have any other options now. If this bout doesn't come off, Wilder will probably have to cave in to the demands of a Whyte, Joshua, or Parker in his next bout. This circus act is going to start to losing money eventually if it hasn't already. Wilder is 32 years old, he may miss his shot at cashing out at this rate.
I think Wilder will fight either Whyte or Breazeale after this. Haymon probably promised Ortiz a title shot when he signed him. Gaymon likes to make in house fights so he keeps all the money and the belt. I think Wilder will demand 10$ million from Hearn for a Whyte 'showdown' in the summer.
This fight has all the hallmarks of not happening again. Prepare for something to upset the applecart.
It is really hilarious reading you guys posts concerning Wilder lmao. It's so fake too lmao. But I understand why. Really I do lol...
the stratergy you invisagine for wilder is the correct one for wilder to win and it would nullify all ortiz strenghs just that wilder has thrown stratergy out the window since he became champ
