Ortiz will be drug tested strictly, the Cuban won't be able to use his blood pressure pills, so he will look just like he looked in his last fight: old, slow, washed up.

I think it will come down to how much Ortiz has declined rather than how good Wilder has become or is.

Ortiz will turn 39 three weeks after the proposed fight date. He hasn't looked good in recent fights and against Martz he looked to have noticeably slowed even in comparison to the Allen and Scott fights.

in ortiz defense he has been faced with fighters recently who box to survive and not to win

he is a pure counterpuncher who likes to box at a certtain distance and anything out of his comfort zone and he has to do things he does not like doing

    ie walking down opponents
breaking down shelled up fighters .

he is best when his opponent comes at him throwing shots and does not keep there own guard up

if wilder throws loaded up wild rights and misses leaving himself off balance then ortiz best weapons come into play

covertthejuice in another thread detailed what wilder can and should do

ie keep it long/use speed/jab/straight right hands
be patient dont look to ko ortiz just use his speed and jab to outbox him

seen in the amatuers how ortiz struggles with speed

seen in the amatuers how wilder struggles with southpaws who just keep on timing him with right hands

against that ortiz whipped left and straight left are his best punches / he has more power in them than his right which against wilder if he stays on the outside is going to be punching up and lacking much snap

only if wilder throws for the fences would ortiz right come into play with any effect

ortiz does parry jabs well / does have a good jab himself when he choses to use it and is sharp with uppercuts and little hard precise counters.

fascinating fight to see what happens to 2 top 5 fighters both unbeaten.

Ortiz has never been dropped, he said that in the very same interview where he mentioned fight with Parnell Whitaker. Ortiz himself mentioned that he has fought against Parnell. And mentioned his age right after he mentioned that he have fought Whitaker. I even remember what shirt he wear, white
    shirt without sleeves.
