In its whole history, all five and a half minutes for which it has existed?

It would be a great business decision for AJ to have a big fight in the U.S.

I think he lived up to expectations against Ortiz and will possibly start getting more recognition from the U.S. media. He proved he is good enough to hold that title.

I wonder how long they will let this fight marinate. They are each countries most popular HWs, and they are both relatively young for HW champion standards.

Wilder is the most popular (in a relative sense) HW in the US at the moment. Yet he is the least popular HW belt holder EVER in the US, at least compared to those who have seven title defenses like he does.

Wilder is generating pitiful purses of around $1.5, $2 million for his fights. He is a terrible draw, highly unpopular and simply generates no mainstream interest in his home country.

AJ would be insane to fight Wilder in the US and take a 50% paycut because no one in the US even knows Wilder.

Barclays holds 16,000 and the week before the fight they were discounting tickets. Attendance was reported at 14,609.

But all these arguments about U.K. vs. US ignore the fact that a venue in Vegas with US PPV brings in double what can be done in the U.K. With the proper promotion in the US, a Vegas venue is the obvious choice.

Wilder is clearly growing in popularity but he still has some way to go if Garcia/Thurman can out sell him and if Broner can pull more viewers on Showtime. Will be interesting to see the figures for Wilder/Ortiz.

Not as great as the other aforementioned fights, however the attendance for Wilder vs Ortiz is good.

Wilder + Ortiz generated $2.7 million between them.

Joshua generates $25 million + on his own.

    The money Joshua generates.....

    70,000 - 90,000 ringside + UK/European TV networks = You don't generate this if held at 2am uk time.

Joshua would bring more fans than that over from england if he fought in the states.

i enjoyed the fight barring the first 3 rounds on saturday night

see saw fight / what was not to like/ thats what i watch boxing for all these years

and it was a big fight
people shitting on ortiz pre fight i never understood / it was obvious IMO that he would cause wilder all kinds of problems
i picked ortiz to win thinking his style would mean wilder would not be able to outbox him.

wilder did what he had to win / win by attrition by any means necassary.
thats what he did and fair play to him.

if i was a new yorker i would have gone
i was looking forward to this fight since it was made.

its wilders next fight that will tell if american tv has got on board with him/ i have no way of knowing /

as to joshua v wilder in las vegas/
IMO **** vegas they are robbing the boxing diehards blind.
las vegas is a place for casual boxing fans with loads of money who can afford to fly in / pay for the hotels and play at the casinos and lose loads of money hence why las vegas pays for subsadise big fights.
what does vegas do for the diehard fan ??

las vegas when i looked it up has a population the same as bradford in the uk

what american on here has even heard of bradford ?
would bradford ever hold a major event in the uk a world cup match etc etc / not a chance.

joshua v wilder should be a spectacle / hold it in new york giants NFL stadium if you want to hold it in america where you can get a huge crowd and the huge spectacle it deserves.
