I was hoping and thinking Ortiz was doing to be a tad lighter coming into the most important fight of his life. Gives me pause to think and once again assume he's there for the paycheck, not to give his career a massive boost.

I think he is going for the KO.. if Ortiz is patient he can win in the mid rounds boxing clever.

So since Wilder said in an interview that he was going to try and bulk up he has since lost 12+ lbs. Doesn't make sense to me. He was already very quick at 228lbs. With his frame he isn't going to get any faster by weighing less. He could easily make CW right now.

The weight suggests to me that Wilder is looking to box and move.I think he will win by stoppage, but he will wait until Ortiz gets tired, or he hurts him before he goes for it..

Honestly, Ortiz doesn't take this fight seriously looking at the extra weight he carries around the belly. He will gas out in round 4 or 5.

What a lazy SOB, reminds me of Solis. Same mentality. They're are already happy with their life how it is without any titles. They already live in big mansions, drive nice cars. They don't feel any need to work out hard in the gym and adhere to a super strict diet.

Well usually Wilder is to blame that his opponents come into the fight is less than perfect shape because he gives them 4 weeks to prepare.

But that isn't the case here. Ortiz had a full 12 weeks training camp and this is the best he can do? For the chance of his life? He's not taking this seriously and is happy to pick up a paycheck, that much is certain.

Ortiz weigh-in only three lbs lighter vs Jennings and everyone said he was looking rocksolid there and Jennings might not be the best puncher but he can move and he is quick and it wasn't a factor at all.
Prob Ortiz could have lost a couple of lbs more for this fight but it is all about comfort and feeling well. If he is feeling well at this weight he should fight with it. We are talking about HWD.

I hope we ain't looking at a Stiverne 2 here FFS...It's hard to think Wilder would take a risky fight when on the verge of his big payday/cash out against AJ.Money talks. We shall see soon enough.

I heard the same sh** about Solis. "It's not a beauty contest, he should fight at the weight he feels comfortable at". Well I call BS on that. Weight shows discipline and the level of seriousness a HW boxer has for reaching his goals.

When I look at Ortiz' soft midsection I see a guy who didn't want to push himself in the gym. A guy who said "Yea sure bring me a 2nd serving of that mac'n cheese, it doesn't matter, I'm a heavyweight!". "Chicken and salad? That's for women".

Just a lazy SOB who thinks he can reach the top by giving it 90% instead of 100%.

The thing is Wilder has beat no one while Ortiz has the pedigree with a good amateur background (he's been fighting since the 20s).. Wilder should be winning this but his head is stuck to far up his arse and Ortiz is a smart old Cuban fighter.

    I fancy an upset.

Unreal point of view. You are talking like he weigh-in with 255lb and much heavier than before. He is fighting with a weight between 239-242lb for years now and he looked pretty good in most of his fights. I do not believe it would suit him fighting with 235 or even less. But i have to admit i expected a lighter weight than this but still no problem at all i think.

This is not a bodybuilding competition.
