That's not the issue at hand.

The issue is that both promoters should have paid more.

Now both fighters are getting screwed out of a lot of money.

    Stop being so obtuse. Ffs.

    Yes, he will.

Wilder is not even getting any money from the American TV rights.

He only gets $4.473.000, plus additional $710.000 if he wins.

Povetkin's promoter will receive 100% share of American, Russian and all the international TV rights. He can even put it on HBO is he wants.

If Wilder was a draw they would have bid more. But wilder is NOT a draw. Povetkin vs. Wlad generated 300% the the purse of this. Because Wlad is a massive draw across Europe. Wilder is unknown in the USA and a nobody globally. $7 million is a gift considering Wilder's lack of charisma and boxing record.

Wilder's team clearly should not have taken it to purse bids. Wasn't Wilder offered $10 million at some point for a voluntary? I guess they were hoping Povetkin's team would pay some crazy amount like they did for the Wlad fight. If that was the case it clearly back fired badly and now Wilder is getting a smaller purse than was previously offered while having to travel to Russia to defend his belt.

Having said that it's still by far Wilder's best purse. Question is now does Wilder's handlers allow the fight to take place. They've shielded him for so long, likely looking to cash out but is this a big enough pay out for their investment?

Either Wilder takes the fight or drops the belt in disgrace. If he does the latter I would assume his next play would be to face the Martin vs Joshua winner. I would assume Joshua made some concession to Haymon to get first crack at Martins title. They would probably hope hat he would make a little more in rabid England and hope Wilder could capitalize on Joshua's inexperience.

wilder couldn't even sell out in his HOMETOWN with $25 tickets. He's getting a lot more than he is worth, IMO.

Wilder should just suck it up and go. If you are going to be a great champion, these are the types of fights you gotta take and win. I think he got a raw deal, but there is really no choice for him but to suck it up. Dropping the belt isn't an option if he wants to advance his career.
