If the AJ fight isn't going to happen in the next 12 months or so, I'd like to see him fight the winner of Parker-White and also give Ortiz a rematch. Their first match was highly competitive and had Ortiz not gassed out in the manner he did, the outcome could've been different.

Wilder's resume receives a lot of criticism- and rightfully so- but he does hold a win against Ortiz which IMO is the best win on either man's resume (between him and AJ.)

People keep mentioning him not making a lot of money for his future fights, my only question is what kind of man/poster counts another man's money? I don't see why any fight fan would care about what these fighter's make- we should all just be hoping for the best fighting the best irrespective of their pay rates.

    Not surprising.

Martin was put on stand by as a possible late replacement for Wilder when Wilder fought Ortiz. Martin was meant to fight on the under card, his opponent pulled out at the last minute and with Ortiz's well known high blood pressure issues it was possible he may not have been given the medical OK to fight Wilder.

"Former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin – a southpaw, like Ortiz – arrived in New York late Friday night and was prepared to step in for Ortiz (28-0, 24 KOs, 2 NC) in the event that the NYSAC wouldn’t allow the 38-year-old Cuban contender to face Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs)."

If Wilder does end up fighting Breazeale and then Martin or Kownacki it only reconfirms what we already know, Haymon won't allow Wilder to fight anyone not signed with him unless he can avoid it.

And then rematch with 41 year old Ortiz? Wow Wilder really has to be careful he's not pushing himself too much!

He ducked AJ, Whyte, Parker and Povetkin. Anyone with a pulse is too much for poor little Deontay.

    It is in this scenario.

Ortiz in my opinion was ahead on points and nearly stopped Wilder in the 7th so his age is proven irrelevant.

Why give a shot to a lesser guy because he is younger? Same with Povetkin and Joshua.Heavyweights as we know can fight on longer than any other division.

Ortiz is in his early 40's at the very least, and has never beaten anybody good, also how many heavy's were truly fighting and winning at the top ten level. Most were getting beat by guys they would of dominated 5 years earlier. The fact that Ortiz arguably was ahead says more about wilder's ability then anything.
