in what universe is wilder a highly marketable fighter? he is a nobody here in the states, even less elsewhere.

Its not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing, what wilder said is factually wrong, the fight doesn't have to be in the u.s. The purse bid winner dictates where the fight is held, wilder gets no say in that. If you agree with what wilder said it is only because your ignorant of the facts, even if the original contract is thrown in the bin povetkin is still wilder's mandatory and the fight will still have to go to another purse bid. If povetkin's team win the purse bid again then the fight is in russia, wilder can then either go to russia or drop his belt, having the fight in the u.s. won't be an option...

first bidding process should be null and void and a new sealed bid by both promoters should take place.

winning promoter gets to chose the venue.

if wilder wants the fight in the states / then he must persuade his promoter to offer povetkin 7 to 10 million to fight in america before sealed bid process starts.

from memory the winning bid 10 million /wilder was getting in the region of 7 million cut of that to fight in russia.

i dont get this whole scenario

i mean the people arranging the fight asked the testing agency to get involved. the rules were you were allowed to have a certain level of the substance in your body. Povetkin tested under the limit allowed by the agency. then the camps involved and the WBC act against the agency they are paying and involving in the process?

    Doesnt make sense?

Either way Povetkin probably has been on this stuff since Wlad or earlier. Its not like Povetkin was suddenly this new Povetkin we hadnt seen before.

will admit his body has undergone a serious transformation since his baby tits days.

that said if Wilder really thinks this guy is cheating and feels the purse bid system is bullying him into a corner that he doesnt want to be bullied into he should drop the title. Fury is already interested and I am sure Klitschko or Joshua would fight him at an instant.

I dont condone ducking but this is a very murky situation, about as weird as it gets to be honest with all the different parties involved. I just hope Wilder fights a real opponent soon

many british promoters have bid on loss making fights to get there fighter home advantage hoping it will make them money down the line.

if wilder wants home advantage / it means his promoter will have to take it inb the pocket.

ryabinsky showed with povetkin v wlad fight money is not his main concern.

Well...I agree with Wilder in that it should be in the US. And Wilder is not stating facts in the sense of what will be decided by the authorities on the matter, or what the details of the purse bid dictate. He is saying what will have to happen if he is to participate in this fight. He is not forced to do anything. It is a matter of whether HE wants to keep the belt and status as WBC champion. And that's really it.

Some of you act as if that belt is an albatross and he MUST fight under circumstances that are frankly very risky...given how things went prior.

He can just simply drop the belt if he doesn't like the situation. And he would be morally justified in doing so. Based on the state of the HW division, that belt won't mean much without him. Povetkin won't hold it long anyway, as soon as he steps up...and his reputation is tarnished, also. If the WBC is smart, they are considering these things.

wilder doesn't make the belt. right now we have three unproven champs. the only thing proven about any of the three is that they dislike any fight that might pose a danger.

The belt is only as good as the waist whom it's around. Wilder is the brightest star in the HW division. I did not say he was the best. That is yet to be determined. But, he is certainly one the most marketable, if not the most marketable HW product from the US. And that carries a lot of weight internationally. The WBC is about business. They understand the value of the belt would increase tenfold if it were around the waist of an undisputed US HW champion. Like it or not...Wilder is the anointed one.
