Really? Is this the best we can do in the US heavyweight division? Stiverne acted gassed from the first round. Wilder would be KO'd in a hurry against Wlad. I think a number of guys knock Wilder out. Povetkin would be one.

But the overarching sense after watching a fight like this, with all the hype, is US boxing at the heavyweight level is just sad.

I never thought much of Wilder going into this fight. I don't think anymore highly of him after it because, frankly, Stiverne didn't come to fight. He kept talking about how Wilder wasn't ready for prime time. As it turns out, he was looking in the mirror.

The keyword here is "acted". As in how Wilders whole career has been an ACT.

Disagree. It was a fascinating fight with a heavy handed monster boxing beautifully against an iron chinned shorty.

Some of Wilder's performances have been suspicious. Boxing is an extremely corrupt sport at the end of the day, and we all know what we see when we look at Wilder. Bambi on ice with a punch.

Like Wlad's performances are any better. Most of them are clinch fests until Wlad wears his smaller opponent down mentally and physically, until he finally decides to unload the right hand.

Exactly. Great way of putting it. The reign of King Wilder will be a short one.

I think if we were to rate the winner of a fight between Huggy bear and Bambi on Ice, we would find that 90% of observers would say Huggy bear wins.

    Just sayin'

How the **** was this a title fight? Between the two of them the only fighter of note that they have ever beat was Chris Arreola.

Stiverne is really is limited ffs. All he can do is counter punch. As far as cutting off the ring, closing the distance, letting his hands go or anything else he is very average excepct for counter punching and a chin. His boxing skills though are very crude and total ****e.

I don't disagree with you. Wlad should have been DQ'd against Povetkin. Even so, Wlad would make short work of Wilder.

I wont debate that statement. In regards to excitement, the Klitschko's. Particularly Wlad, anchored in the most boring reign in the divisions history. I can't remember Wlad having an exciting title fight in years.

Wilder did better than expected but Stiverne was in terrible shape and apparently couldn't cut the ring off to save his life. Wilder has been on record saying he wants Wlad and we know Wlad wants it make the fight for May.

Yeah agreed, I think Wilder does deserve some props though he's better than many including myself thought he was when it comes to certain attributes, people of course will be going mental with it though.

As for this "US Heavyweight scene is back" **** people will/have been saying, it does sound quite desperate but looking what's out there in the division, other than a few fighters he'll be quite hard to beat, shows how sad that division really is.
