To be fair, Molina would have been a good contender if he had a good chin.

This version of Arreola would have been a 'nightmare' for Wilder.

Saying Wilder struggled with Molina is outright hyperbole That was just hype to get you to buy the AJ/Molina ppv. In reality, outside of one moment he was thoroughly dominated. Knocked down 4 or more times and out. The ref gave him more chances (and rightfully so in championship fights). Molina looking dead then getting back up until enough was enough. That's what really happened.
I had been saying that Molina needed a new gameplan because essentially he surprised Wilder to get that shot in but that's not going to work again and it didn't. In other words, different circumstances with the luxury of 20/20 vision so not much to gleam from this except for those who still believe in triangle theory boxing (casuals).

Wilder didn't 'struggle' with him but he was hurt and Joshua stopped him in far more impressive fashion. Clinging to triangle theory is stupid, but as far as the eye test Joshua appears to be the better fighter and against a similar level of opposition.

Molina looked like he went in defeated already BUT he landed a few decent shots on there. I do wonder if someone were a little more confident (/ less worried about dying hahaha) if they could trouble Joshua more. AJ is a BAD man, but Molina is not the fastest or most technical guy in the world and he definitely landed despite not actually throwing a lot.... so AJ's defense is penetrable at this stage and someone a higher level than Molina may possibly be able to exploit that better.

The flipside of this is there isn't a lot of guys out there at a much higher level than Molina, currently.

There's not much to get from that other than always gameplan all your opponents. I knew AJ would be professional and break down Molina's weaknesses and get him out of there quicker. He after all saw how Molina tries to win on this level and adjusted accordingly.

Thats because Joshua's got more power.

Wilder needs time and space in his punches for being as effective.

Molina didn't even try. I think he feigned one or two punches against AJ, but mostly he just moved away. Plus, the way he went down was a little too easy. It was like he was walking around the ring looking for a good spot to lie down.
