Wilder needed to get bigger, to the 230-235 range so his power can carry better absorb body shots better. 217-220 was too small. I like this development

Wilder still looks scrawny at almost 230. If he ever grows some arms and legs he'll weigh 260.

Szpilka is his toughest most skilled opponent to date. Yes Szpilka has a better resume.

Yeah, he's got the reach. Too bad he doesn't know how to use it. A French nobody was tagging him at will. If Szpilka can get in range, he can bust him up.

If Deontay is there to be hit like he was against Duhaupas I think he will be knocked out. Of course, the other factor is whether Szpilka's chin is as durable as that of the frenchman. One thing I remember about Duhaupas is that his legs were as thick as tree trunks and that can indicate good punch resistance.

Hopefully that's what Ronnie and Danny Arnold had in plan for Szpilka while training. That or they got him moving way more, side to side to avoid bombs and sneak in counter attacks. His chin has been questionable but I'm expecting a different Szpilka with Ronnie and his crew. We didn't get to see it in the earlier 2015 fights because those guys sucked and were all out by rd 2. I'll be really disappointed if he doesn't put on a decent show - win or lose.

Depends on your budget. I put down $75 on Szpilka and think I have 1 in 4 chances of getting this. If you typically bet $200 in a month I'd say this is the only underdog bet you should make. I think Vegas has drank a bit too much of the Wilder cool-aid vs a relatively under exposed (and better challenged) Szpilka and the odds are off on this one.
