He's lost twice in his last 13 fights.

And you probably heard that he beat Kaufman but it was turned into a no contest because he failed a test for marijuana.

Not to mention Arreola was suspended after his last fight he is most likely totally out of shape now and only allowed a 5 week camp.

I'm no fan of Wilder's, but it's hardly his fault is it.

He should have fought Povetkin last month.

Did you watch the fight? The official result is hardly a reflection of what occurred in the ring. Put the poms poms down trying to defend this horrible match. And nice of Wilder to find someone who FAILED a drug test in their last fight

Well the real threat he was going to fight tested positive for steroids, and Fury,Klitschko, and Joshua are all in training for other fights. So what are you gonna do

    Exactly.

It's both frustrating and disappointing, but I don't really see how he's at fault here.

I think Arreola can knock him out. Certainly has a punchers chance.

I can see where you're coming from, but here's my problem. First, I generally defend Wilder, but I'm wondering what he was thinking here. His title defenses have been below average (not as bad as some of his critics make out, but unquestionably below average for a serious champ), and he chooses Arreola?! I would have been very satisfied with Gerald Washington. Not a top 10 guy, but fringe top 15, undefeated and having last beaten a declining former top contender in Chambers. Very understandable fight as a stay busy when your last fight is cancelled to no fault of your own, even when you've yet to face a top 10 opponent in a title defense. But Arreola might not even be a top 40 hw anymore, he's totally shot. It's not Wilder's fault the Pedvetkin fight fell through, but he's got to be mindful of the reputation he's developing about always avoiding serious challengers. It makes me, basically a Wilder defender, wonder if he's going to keep going on like this and always avoid serious challenges.

He's still good for the deluded american public though...

But damn I would love to see him get blasted out completely by Klitschko/Joshua/Haye/Povetkin/Ortiz/Granat/Parker etc...

    Tough choice...

He`s trying to hang on to the WBC trinket as long as he can before he is forced to face a proper opponent. The moment he does, he gets flattened.

The hard thing about Wilder is we don't even know where he is as a fighter anymore....

I thought his last display was horrific intill he landed a 1 hitter quitter. He was getting outboxed and outjabbed by a football hooligan.

Wilder's been around for a long time now, i was just shocked to see that his net worth is only $500,000 even though he has some 35 plus fights under his belt as a professional. Should have made some money out of this sport by now.

But it is. There were much better opponents available and they chose Arreola. Even Ustinov would have been more than acceptable. But they go for one of the easiest fights available, a guy who isn't even ranked in the top 15 in Arreola. Someone who should have lost to Kassi and Kauffman in their last two outings, also went life and death with journeyman Curtis Harper. Arreola is completely shot and this fight is a farce. There's no defending it.
