I would love to see Wilder spark out AJ

 

We're yet to see what Joshua looks like post crash but id still bet he has more in the tank than Wilder. The issue is whether or not he'll mentally freeze again like he did against Dubois. With that being said, even if he does freeze I'm not sure Wilder has what it takes to finish it anymore. Too slow, legs to weak, too telegraphed and his power too declined. The safe bet would be Joshua.

 

Yeah he could beat him for sure but it's hard to tell how much Joshua has left. But they should 100% just make that fight now.

This fight now would be the equivalent in football of England still picking Gerrard & Lampard.

This must be the only sport in the world when people don't just retire when their time is clearly up. I get that money will be made but surely this is what misfits is for

 

It was frustrating to see Wilder not able to commit to punch straight through the target anymore like in the old days. Time catches up with us all

 

Do you think he’s gun-shy now, or is it just age in the sense that he sees the shot but simply can’t pull the trigger anymore?

There were so many moments where he had Chisora in position, and you could almost see him lining the right hand up, but it just never flowed.

In the past that was his specialty, and it worked at the highest level, even against Fury on multiple occasions, yet he looked a shadow of himself last night and still got the win.

I honestly feel he’s an accident waiting to happen now, especially if you can back him up. Shame really, because he’s arguably the biggest one-punch hitter in boxing since Julian Jackson, but like the Hawk, time waits for no one.

 

I’m not exactly sure if I watched the same fight as everybody else last night! Wilder is and was god awful, was he better than a god awful chisora, yes but not by much. AJ beats the living hell out of Wilder right now, even if wilder was to land flush there’s nothing on it to trouble AJ.

 

You're right, but keep in mind that the professional boxing game has nothing to do with sports. It's a business.

 

Deontay Wilder wants to fight Anthony Joshua - even if he (Wilder) loses it won't matter, I think Wilder's more interested in the money which will likely be a massive gigantic payday + sponsorship deals. Turki promotes that fight he'll get at least $100 Million. This is where Finkel earns his percentage (Money)

 

This fight will still sell out a big venue in the UK but the athleticism required for Wilder to be an effective puncher is long gone. For that reason, I’m pretty certain AJ will have enough to beat him.

 

Yup, that’s pretty much how I saw it as well. Joshua beats this Wilder in much the same way he dealt with Ngannou, and probably with a similarly brutal finish.

On last night’s showing, Dave Allen wouldn’t have looked remotely out of place against either Chisora or Wilder.

 

That’s also the way I saw it.

I’ve noticed on these forums & elsewhere over the years that many struggle to work out what truly causes punch power. There seems to be an X factor thats different from mass x speed = power.

Although genetics are always important, I truly believe the X factor is the mentality of the fighter - genuinely wanting to kill the opponent with the punch. Its not a PC answer but this is the fight game.

Wilder once had that, he doesnt have it anymore

 

I also think the aura is gone now. Opponents aren’t nearly as hesitant to take the fight to him anymore and, if anything, he’s the hesitant one now.

But at his peak, all it took was one slip and the fight was over.
