Even if he were to win he'd have to fight Povetkin next so I don't see the point in taking the fight this early.

Surely Wilder has to look higher than Fury- at least someone in the top fifteen.

Wilder is a joke i think if Hughie could last the first few rounds he could win the fight.

I would take it if I were him. Yes he will probably lose but it will be a good payday for him plus a lot of experience at the top level for him and he is so young that he can completely rebuild his career and still only be 23/24 by the time he has done that.

Hughie would beat Wilder.. only thing would stop him would be his health.. but he claims he's fully recovered from the cold/fever or whatever it was.

    Hughie is a natural heavy.

What experience is there in getting brutality knocked out in the first round?

I don't think Hughes would get KO'd early plus he's got the ideal sparring partner in Tyson Fury.

    He should take the fight.
He just had a fight, he looked in shape and went 10 full rounds without getting damaged, so 4 weeks should be enough.

    Wilder is rubbish anyway.

I think Haymon's done this because it's a win that will look better after time. Same with Mayweather vs. Canelo get them while they're green. As bad as targeting over the hill fighters really.

If he can't beat Wilder in his 17th fight, he'll never be any good.

Wilder is awful. About 30 of his fights were bums taking dives.
WBC title is devalued from what it used to be.

Wilder's chin is so dodgy I wouldn't be surprised if even a relatively light puncher like Hughie could hurt him often enough to make him think twice.

I am going agaisnt he grain here and saying that it would be a shockingly easy win for Fury.

Wilder's great power is s joke, and he has nothign else to brag about.

The exposure hughie would get from this fight would be huge.... Its a win win situation.... Eve. If he loses... He is 20 and has 15+ years left in the game

If anyone needed any evidence of the depths the modern game has sunk to this is it.
We've got a true paper champion who beat bums and nobodies to win his belt.
For his first defence he fights a part time fighter and for his second an unranked 20 year old inexperienced novice, at short notice.
Where are the clowns who run the game in allowing them to do this?
It's not even a joke, because a joke is meant to be funny.
