With Wilder v Ortiz now cancelled the prospect of a unification fight with Anthony Joshua recedes significantly. Wilder needed to beat a top heavyweight convincingly to pave the way for a superfight with AJ. Wilder is currently on the road to nowhere.

Joshua should fight parker get anothrr title and further marginalize the wilder carnival side show.

Do that wait a year and the wbc belt will be viewed like an ibo title

I think it brings Wilder closer to fighting Joshua, much closer infact.

1 Ortiz will be banned for drugs, so Joshua does not need to fight him next.

2 Wilder gets a much easier fight, which he will almost certainly win, unlike if he had to fight Ortiz.

Looks like Wilder can cash out. And Joshua will get a easy three round fight KO'ing Wilder.

You can criticize Wilder for his poor resume and his technical faults as a fighter, but the guy went out of his way to fight Povetkin and now Luiz and both bouts have now been cancelled due to the two fighters failing mandatory drug tests. He has been looking to up his game and i am pretty sure he will want to have a crack at Joshua asap.

Plus it gets Wilder’s mandatory out of the way, clears the schedule for 2018. If Ortiz is out, then Stiverne makes the most sense as far as getting the mandatory done with.

And no, I don’t like Wilder vs. Stiverne, but if the WBC is gonna make him mandatory it’s gonna happen regardless.

He`s had 38 fights! Wilder just runs his mouth trying to tell everyone he is THE man but has done little to back his talk up.

With Ortiz gone... who’s the top heavyweight he can fight now?? The division isn’t that deep... maybe a whyte or miller... as contenders even Parker that’s about it... maybe breazele especially if he goes and fight whyte and wins...

AJ is close to looking a Level on his own if you ask me.

Makes it easier to fight Joshua. It's part of the plan.
Wilder has fought no one- he's the Manchurian Heavyweight. A propped up fraud. Ready to be sold to the public.

Saved by the WBC again sigh.. He is never going to fight AJ... Everytime (well twice in 38 fights) he has a 50-50 match up something happens to the other fighter involving the VADA...

Nah, Wilder-Joshua happens early next year. Career high payday for Wilder.

Joshua's is a big star now so he can lure in all the contenders and pretenders with huge paydays. I could see him fighting both Wilder and Parker in 2018.

Ironic that people in this thread are concern trolling about a fight being delayed when they don't really want it to happen in the first place. AJ can take a loss and still be a draw, not sure what they or his fanboys are scared of.
