Wilder v Ortiz UK TV

Mate it's becoming a parody. Like I've said in the general forum in all the threads about Ortiz's age: how many guys aged 50 have you seen with a hairline like his? I can count maybe one person. He may be a couple years older but no where near as old as people say on here. He's a good athlete and many HWs can fight long into their 40s.

If Wilder wins it will most likely be by KO and he will get full credit from me and every sane person here, and we'd all then be screaming for the Joshua fight.

 

Indeed, plus no one was really saying that when it looked like he might fight AJ. People are just worried that Wilder might actually be legit.

 

If Wilder beats Ortiz it’s a legit win. Ortiz is highly ranked that’s all there is to it.

Makes sense really. You're 19 years old, don't have a valid birth certificate, and you know that if you pass for 15 you have a good chance for getting a lucrative sports contract that will lead to a much better life.

 

It is and it isn’t. He’s about to turn 39 and he’s had one fight against a bum in 2 years.

 

Possibly, but there remains no proof. Plus, AJ and Fury's wins over Wlad are still legit

 

The only "proof" people are relying on is an interview where Ortiz is quoted as saying he recalls seeing Ali-Foreman live on tv as a kid - which is a quote that was most likely lost in translation and he was referring to a non-live showing of the fight.

That and some hearsay statements from people in boxing saying that Ortiz is older.

Like I've said many times in the General section, Ortiz and his promoter would promote the **** out of the fact that he could become one of the oldest champions ever if his age was truly what people claim it to be. He'd gain way more exposure in the media that way.

Also people just continue to ignore the fact that his hairline and hair thickness is simply not consistent with 99.9% of men around 50 years of age.

 

Surprised that Wilder took this before the AJ fight, its a huge risk in my opinion! I'm with you, I will be backing Ortiz as I can imagine his price being very generous! He is currently at 2/1 just to win.

This is a great fight and will answer a number of questions... Is wilder good enough against elite opposition or is Ortiz as good as we think? Of all the fights made so far this is one of the fights I'm looking forward to the most!

 

Absolutely this! His resume is **** poor, no arguments there. But he gets so much stick for not fighting guys when at the end of the day he signed to fight Ortiz TWICE and Povetkin too, both guys no one else has been in any kind of rush to fight

 

Yep tbf he even agreed to go to Russia for the Povetkin fight. Even though the money on offer was crazy ($10m IIRC) that was a bold move from Wilder.

 

The Povetkin fight was a mandatory and although I give him props for taking the Ortiz fight I still kind of felt he had no choice, with AJ & Parker tied up, he was becoming a bit of a joke amongst the boxing community & he knew it as well, hence he had to fight a name. For a guy with 39 Pro fights and 5 voluntary defences his resume is inexcusable.

 

It was his mandatory and Dibella lost the purse bid so he had to go to Russia.

 

Let’s put it this way. It’s better than all his other wins. It will give him more bargaining power against Joshua at least.

 

I'm picking Wilder to win, he's like 10 years younger and more athletic. Ortiz is a plodder or he would have taken out Scott.
Wilder to move a lot and use his reach and length + Haymon's rigged judges = easy win.
