Last time Wilder disappeared like Harry Houdini and fled back to Tuscaloosa Alabama in a flash when Povetkin was reported to have 0.000001% of meldonium found. Wilder didn't even wait for the WBC to make a decision. Who would win if they fought now?

If were talking about when it should have happened in May 2016, I'd have just about given the edge to Povetkin. Now I would pick Wilder, but Povetkin would still be a threat.

An easy win for povetkin. I really do like wilder but he is a massively protected paper champion with one of the most padded records you can find in the sport and when you get that in this sport there is usually a reason for it.

Povetkin smashes wilder not that we would ever of found out for sure, wilder shouts to the real heavyweights via social media but he isn't too keen to actually fight any of them

I'm sure Povetkin (even this older Povetkin) would club Wilder like a baby seal. Wilder has no footwork and a porous defence. His best defence is his offence and guys being wary of his power. Povetkin would give zero ****s about that and come straight in to pop that cherry.

While I favour AJ over Povetkin, I actually think Wilder would have an easier time vs AJ. Joshua is cautious and calculating of late and I think it would take him a bit longer to work Wilder out.

Are you serious? Or are you just stating that because Povetkin is ACTUALLY fighting Joshua and not Wilder? Like, if Povetkin were to fight Wilder this Saturday, would you actually maintain that prediction?

    Just curious, that's all!

Yes. I think that their styles pan out like that and there's a reason Wilder never wanted a piece of Povetkin. Wilder is hittable and anything Povetkin can land on clean he can destroy. Joshua has a much better defence and tactical nous than Wilder. He is also more cautious. I think he'd beat Wilder too but would take longer to do it because of that.

Wilder by KO unless Povetkin lands a perfect punch.

I think prime Povetkin would KO Wilder in similar fashion to how he KO'ed Johann Duhaupas. Since Wilder exposed himself to be on the same level as Duhaupas during their fight, which was pretty much dead even at the time of the premature stoppage.

However, I'm unsure about current, past-prime Povetkin. Since his stamina, fitness and conditioning is questionable at this stage of his career. This is because pretty much every boxer by that age, declines in those departments.

Having said that, if Povetkin's stamina is anywhere near as good as it was a few years ago, along with his ability to take punches (which also deteriorates as boxers get older and take more damage), then I think he could still beat Wilder by decision by outworking him, assuming neutral judges. I'm not sure if he can KO wilder at this stage though. If low level heavyweights like Christian Hammer and Andriy Rudenko can avoid getting knocked out by Povetkin. I see no reason why Wilder couldn't also. You could say Rudenko has a solid chin and has never been KO'ed, even by power puncher Lucas Browne. But the same is the case with Wilder, who fought Ortiz and is still yet to be KO'ed.

I think it is closer to 50/50 at this stage of Povetkin's career!

Povetkin probably still KOs Wilder. Ortiz summed Wilder up perfectly "he has one mutha f#$kin punch and I can see it coming all night", only thing was Ortiz's footwork and head/body movement has declined rapidly enough as he's aged for Wilder to catch him. Wilders only real world level boxing skill is to stay out of range and throw a counter right hand. Povetkin still has enough agility to evade Wilders haymakers and skill to KO him in the early-mid rounds.

What has Wilder got on Povetkin? Age, thats the only thing. He is worse than Povetkin at literally everything else, hell its 50-50 who speaks better English.

Povetkin (at his best) is better than Wilder, SURE! But by late 30's, boxers can lose to even inferior opponents than Wilder. Mike Tyson was literally losing to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride for example. So Povetkin's chances of winning, decreases as every month passes.

Well, if Povetkin stops Joshua Saturday to take the titles, he'll fly back to Russia and we won't see him in the UK again.

So Wilder and Povetkin would have to take place in the US or Russia (again) next year. Povetkin will be nearly 40.

Wherever it's held, Wilder wins by KO.

But it would be nice if it was for ALL the belts.

And, apparently, that one punch floored Ortiz three times and left him crumbled on the floor.

If he could see it coming all night, maybe he should've ducked?

Wilder also had the flu leading up to that fight and had lost 10 pounds. Still knocked Ortiz out.

Exactly, his old knees and hips wouldn't let him . Yeah, 80% of fighters generally get a solid flu during if they have had a solid training camp, its nothing new. Jeff Horn recently fought Crawford with stitches in his head, David Haye fought Bellew on one leg twice, Mayweather with broken hands half the time, no excuses.
