Tua was clearly outboxed by Rahman and Maskaev before he got the stoppage. Nicholson, Izon, and Oquendo outboxed him as well. Maskaev was a novice and he had a glass jaw. McCall KO'd him in 98 seconds (a year before Tua-Maskaev). Izon was a mediocre boxer himself. He was slow and flat footed. He was coming off a decision loss to Maurice Harris (5-6-2) when he fought Tua. An out of shape, sluggish Hasim Rahman outboxed Tua in their rematch. Rahman was an 8-5 underdog before the weigh-ins, 18-5 underdog (3½ to 1) after the weigh-ins. Rahman weighed 259 lbs (35 lbs heavier than his previous fight- Holyfield). Fury and Ortiz were elite HWs. Stiverne was a good fighter when Wilder beat him. Szpilka and Arreola were decent. If you think Stiverne and Szpilka were bums, then so were Izon and Nicholson. Who clearly outboxed Wilder? Szpilka and Ortiz gave him problems, both those fights were close before the stoppage. Fury is the only fighter that clearly outboxed Wilder. I scored Wilder-Fury 114-112 for Fury. Is that really bad? Fury is 6'9 and a brilliant boxer. Compare that to Tua getting schooled by Maskaev and Rahman.
Actually going with Wilder here to knock out Tua. Tua would go into a shell and be extremely hesitant to attack against Wilders crazy reach. Hardest puncher Tua faced was Lewis and he was real shy about pulling the trigger that fight and Wilder punches a lot harder then Lewis imo (imagine if Wilder could box).
Rahman,Maskaev ,Oquendo and Ruiz are only comparable with Ortiz. 4-1 Nicholson, faded Moorer are much better than Duhaupass and Malik Scott Izon Sullivan and darroll wilson are comparable with stiverne, szpilka Prime vs prime Tua kills Wilder and has a much better resume Fury was robbed against Wilder
No not at all. Skill wise it’s a no contest. Power wise I’d say Wilder is def stronger. More the power that keeps Tua from charging in imo.
Tua felt a right hand early by Lennox and it kept him honest and in his lane not pushing to hard. I have see Wilder survive Ortiz and a rocky road but Tua's power a different story but Tua also slow and sporadic I'm thinking Wilder can keep the distance and box and let Tua feel his power to keep him in check but Tua always has that chance if he dares to walk through and taste a few- he failed to do so against Lewis Wilder backed up also in his pursuit of Fury after dropping Tyson but feeling Tyson's power punching back Wilder wins if he plays it safe & keeps the turtle in his shell but if the turtle hurts him it may be over
Lewis is far stronger and physically rag dolls Wilder, even right hands i'd pick Lewis, defo the upper cut
Tua had pretty good and underrated defense. There's a reason he wasn't KD'd until he was 100 years old. And Wilder isn't exactly sneaky with his shots. Again, anything can happen with two powerpunchers, but given their skills, I say Tua gets there first.
Stiverne was at his peak. He had KO'd 4 of his last 6 opponents and he held the wbc championship. Therefore he was world class. You claimed wilder had no jab, yet in this fight he put on a clinic with his jab and won most rounds with it. You were wrong on both accounts.
