Wilder v Stiverne 1 and Wlad v Peter 1

Stiverne's best win is a decision against a past it Arreola. His second best win is a come from behind KO against an even more past it Arreola. His 3rd best win is a come from behind KO over the corpse of Ray Austin who looked like a prime Holmes against him in the earlier rounds.

You can't compare the walking jabmagnet against someone like a prime Peter

 

Hell, I think I'd take Chris Arreola over Sam Peter then and now.

One of Sam Peter's best wins was getting off the floor three times in the first two rounds to win a controversial 12-round majority decision over Jameel McCline - the same McCline who Chris Arreola wasted in four rounds a little over a year later.

The only thing Sam Peter was known for up to that first fight with Wlad was a KO over Jeremy Williams. That wasn't as big of a deal as beating Arreola at that time, like Stiverne had (twice).

 

I'm not sure Wilder would've accepted a fight with 29 year old Wlad since him and his team avoided the opportunity of an undisputed unification with the 39 year old version. Wlad also beat the breaks off Wilder and knocked him out multiple times in sparring which beyond the fact of him being the more skilled fighter suggests that he just had Wilder's number.

 

People are discrediting the Arreola wins a bit. He was a good opponent and a tough guy to stop in his prime, or even now.

 

Regarding Peter and Arreola ...

Both fought McCline: Peter was dropped three times in two rounds and nearly stopped before winning a majority decision. Arreola walked right through him and stopped him in four.

Both fought Vitali Klitschko: Peter was shut out and his corner waived it off after eight rounds. Arreola was shut out and his corner waived it off after 10 rounds.

Both fought Nagy Aquilera: Peter stopped him in two. Arreola stopped him in three.

Both fought stepping stone Curtis Taylor and both stopped him in one.

Peter lost a decision to Eddie Chambers. Arreola lost a decision to Tomasz Adamek. (Adamek defeated Chambers.)

Arreola currently sits at 38-7-1 with 33 Kos. Peter currently sits at 38-9 with 31 Kos.

They were basically the same kind of fighter.

I'm surprised they never crossed paths, actually.
