At that point in time, Williams was a respectable HW.

Not elite, but there were certainly worse fighters getting title shots around the same time.

Vitaly at 40 beat Chisora with 1 arm, who is still knocking out contenders and recently KOed Shpilka in 2, who was outboxing Wilder for 10 rounds untill he got caught.
Vitaly at 41 defeated Manuel Charr, who became a WBA champion in this current era. Both would be probably the best 2 wins on Wilder's resume.
The level between Wilder and Vitaly both head to head and resume wise is enormous.

HBO tried to make a Tyson vs. Vitali fight. Williams was supposed to be a tune-up for Tyson. However, Williams knocked him out which was still a bit of an upset, no matter how shot Tyson was.

So HBO made the Vitali vs. Williams fight and they put it on PPV (which bombed I think with around 100k PPV).

Not sure why you insist on blaming Vitali for "choosing" Williams. It was HBO who came up with the Tyson vs. Williams and Tyson vs. Vitali fight plan because they wanted a PPV event.

Danny Williams was definitely better than Eric Molina who hurt Wilder twice, or Szpilka, who outboxed Wilder for 9 rounds until got caught.

I am a Vitali fight, I love the man but one thing is for certain: His record is quite thin, no matter how you dice it. I find the comparison with Deontay quite fitting to be honest, both had very mediocre opposition.

    Vitali never rematched Byrd.

He got his brother to do it, as wlads style suited Byrd’s better.

    Appears you’re the ‘noob’

As stipulated in the usual klitschko nonsense. Beat me then face my brother first

I stand corrected. Just got the brother's mixed up. They faced the same opponents a few times.

"noob"? I own you boy. Vitali's resume is still better than Wilder's paper thin, resume.

by the time wilder finishes his resume will be the same as Vitalis, thin as paper with a best win a retiree who couldnt cut it when prime Sanders/Ortiz.

Getting the brothers mixed up is generally the first alarm of someone who doesn’t know boxing. You didn’t even know vitalis resume.....so I don’t think you’re in a position to comment further
