Wilder has been shielded his ENTIRE career - you fanboys see what you want to see. Yeah sure - Hearn should just forget his plan to build the fight to create bigger revenue but there's nothing really wrong with it. In the meantime Wilder has just fought bums for 50% as much, so why turn down Hearns win-win offer?
This content is protected No rush. Wilder has had nearly 40 fights and not fought at the same level as Joshua, so I can understand why fans would like to see Wilder in a big fight but Joshua has only had around 20 fights and his next fight if it is Pulev would arguably be a greater opponent then any Wilder has faced. If Wilder got a win over Parker, Whyte, Pulev (before AJ), Martin possibly Breazeale it may build it up to a bigger event? Joshua has beaten 3 of those fighters and may be facing a 4th so I would guess if Wilder and Parker fought it might build the fight as Parker has fought in the UK I think it would make for a bigger event I think if Wilder gets a win over a big name first.
This. Hearn wouldn't even mention Wilder's name if he was as unknown as everyone says. Wilder has fought all over the U.S., fought in the U.K., and headlined at the MGM Grand. Hearn just doesn't want to see the Joshua gravy train come to an end. Hearn will stall for as long as he can.
I picked Wilder Whyte first. The reason is they would both have a common opponent finally, and after seeing whyte bore the **** out of everyone last weekend, i would lobve to see Wilder get him out of there before getting to round 5. That makes it a boring fight all the same, but one that make 2 champions meeting in centre ring all the more interesting. I cant wait to see Hoshua Wilder because everybody has an opinion on it and for many different reasons. They are both big bangers and some seem to think that they are hiding glass jaws (lmao). Let the battle begin! Im hoping Joshua Takes on Parker next and then after that we get a fight for all the marbles
For real! AJ fans are lame! Why wont you want a unification fight? Yes i know why! Wilder will ko your only hope! Pathetic
Whyte stinks. So if that is the option I would prefer Joshua. However, being that Wilder has only fought 1 top 10 opponent in basically 40 fights and 9 years a pro I would like to see him take on a legit opponent before facing Joshua. Besides Wilder still doesn't sell, last night in NYC he was only able to draw almost 11 thousand in Barclays center. That's pretty awful. Barclays is more affordable than the 18k seat MSG. And he still couldn't come close to a sell out. Joshua sells out Wembley for crying out loud. So if Wilder demands the fight he should only get a very small split no more than 20 percent.
30% tops which would give him a similar payout to Can Martin vs Joshua, but Martin had the only belt to cash out with. Wilder could easily price himself out and go for Breazeale and then Duhaupas II (recycling more cans).
Eric Molina is a common opponent. That’s no basis for making a less important fight rather than unification.
No it shouldn't. Wilder-Joshua should be next. And, if it's a good, fight, they should fight again right after that. And, if the rematch is good, the winner will probably have to fight a mandatory or two, and then they should fight again. These guys can fight as often as they want. They're both approaching their primes. Let's see them fight each other as often as possible. You don't need to "build" anything. Their meeting will be a huge event. And every subsequent meeting after that between the two of them will be as well. Let's get going already. You can't have a great series if you don't get them in the ring to begin it.
I want to see Joshua knock Wilder out ASAP! However, I would be glad to see Wilder fight Whyte, but Breazeale is next. Wilder does not want to fight Joshua, he is afraid of Whyte, Ruiz, Povetkin, Ortiz, ad infinitum!
To be honest i think you are dead right. From a fighters point of view, if you call yourself the champ, you need to fight any other so called champion to prove you are THE Champ. Martin did just that, and got well and truly smoked, but at least he had the honor to do so, and a good payday because he was prepared to take on the whole world from the top down.
This is what I put in the Brit forum Honestly, some of the replies to this make me want to cry. Do you even want good fights? Whyte is average. He really isn't much better than what Wilder has already been beating. He has also done nothing to warrant a title shot himself. Wilder has a world title. AJ has world titles. WHY THE **** DO PEOPLE WANT SOMEONE TO FIGHT A GATE KEEPER INSTEAD OF ANOTHER CHAMPION???? It's just the better fight all round, in every single way. AJ-Wilder doesn't need to be 'built up'. That's just nonsense that'll benefit Hearn and no one else.
