Does Sanders get Wilder out of there in similar fashion to the Wlad fight, or does Wilder land his massive right hand and put Corrie out for the count?
Hmm, don't know really. Sanders was so inconsistent. Rahman shouldn't have beaten him but did. Nate Tubbs shouldn't have beaten him but did. He just wasn't someone you'd want to bet on, especially against a hard puncher.
Sanders all the way. Wilder is not exactly hard to hit and Sanders had one of the finest, fastest and most accurate left straights that I ever saw. Wilder starts slow, Sanders starts like a gas fire. Obviously there's the caveat (as always with Wilder) that DW has the proverbial puncher's chance, but Sanders is simply a large step above as a boxer.
This is a great and gutsy post since so many guys mythologize Sanders. Sniper had mad skills, but was never, ever in shape. It is the same as all the Tim Witherspoon threads...people liked him for what he could have been. But when you are talking about him, which guy are you talking about? The guy who blitzed Wladdy, or the guy who folded against Nate Tubbs? It should be remembered that Sanders did not like boxing, and wanted to be a golfer.
That is simply incorrect. His conditioning issues manifested later in his career, when his knees started to give in and he had problems with roadwork etc.
If Wilder starts slow like he usually does, and he most certainly would against a prime Sanders as he was no slouch, he gets taken out in 3. Sanders was brave enough to put it on Wilder from the get go and Wilder on the few occasions he's been pressured, has looked a mess.
I would back Sanders to be motivated by the Wilder fight like he was by the Wlad and Vitali fights. I think Sanders pots Wilder early. A KO win in devastating fashion in under 3 rounds.
I could definitely see Sander's having success early. Wilder has a wide stance and doesn't move well, he would have trouble with Sander's speed and counter straight left as he backs up. Wouldn't shock me to see Sanders drop him early. But if Wilder can survive the early assault, continue to be patient, much like against old man Ortiz, he can capitalize late in the fight when his opponent tires.
Sanders was better, but had stamina for only 3-4 rounds. I still think he woukd go kamikaze on Wilder and KO him. Wilder can't box.
sanders was a journeyman for a reason. love wilder or hate him, he became a major player. have to side with wilder.
