Mayweathers ppv numbers really were ridiculous.

    Nobody will replicate that.

Yes they must have spent an absolute fortune promoting this fight.

Break even seems way too high.

The first fight did 325k buys so 3 x that at 1 million buys should have been a huge success not break even. They hoped for 1.5 million buys from a fight where the first one did 325k. That seems like a huge ask and more wishful thinking.

Now you can see why the undercard was so terrible. There wasn't any money left in the pot.

    They certainly aimed high.

All in all you can see why Hearn would gladly take AJ v Fury to Saudi. No need to gamble on ppv buys when you can get a site fee guarantee which pays everything.

Also this whole scenario kills that Wilder supposed offer to AJ. What was it, $50 million guarantee lol.

Exactly how would that have been paid for? I said at the time AJ Vs Wilder would not guarantee huge ppv buys.

Fury needs to fight UK time for big PPV numbers.

And that's for an event that always has a full undercard, basically guaranteeing the customer 2-3 hours of solid entertainment for their buck. Going into saturday many were anticipating the possibility of the fight being ended by a first round Wilder KO. So if that had happened what would you be left with? Sounds like a colossal waste of money to me, especially when you could've picked it up on a stream pretty easily. The price points in America are ridiculous, and also harmful to the sport.

I don't know man, I think HW always carries its appeal... like gladiator days like big guys slugging it out.

AJ was built very well in the UK market, and Whyte was sold really well... and they lived up to expectations... they gave the pundits what they wanted... and they showed a little more in their game versus Fury and Wilder... that they werent just one dimensional... they carried themselves as ahtletes in the way they spoke which is what the UK fans could get behind.

I mean look how popular AJ and Whyte from YouTube interviews... especially Whyte... the pundits love him... they are in tune with what he talks about and his banter.... there is a connection there... but there is no fan or pundit connection for Fury or Wilder because they come across as VERY selfish, cocky, arrogant and detached

This virtually guarantees the trilogy fight turns up in Saudi imo. Gotta make up the difference somewhere...

If Wilder is promised a shot at the winner by, say, Spring of 2021, I think he stands to gain a lot more than he would by fighting and probably losing to Fury again. I said elsewhere that a Wilder with a few million in his pocket for the delay and a couple of comeback wins on the board is much more of a money-spinner than one who goes straight into a third fight with someone who beat up and stopped him little more than a year after comprehensively out-boxing him.

They lost money on this fight, these two fights have been a bust, all suits must be fuming, these boneheads dont realize that the usa doesnt care about boxing anymore and only floyd combined with pacquiao and conor will sell. What a mess, no way the 3rd fight happens because people wont even bother to pay for a 3rd fight after wilder ended up fighting like a guy with only 5 pro fights.

I don't think they lost money on that rematch considering the gate and the tickets of that fight in vegas broke records which was more or the same as Lewis vs Holyfield rematch which is very good and 750,000 buys that cost 80.00 to order? That's way better than any of Joshua fights that cost between 24.99 to 29.99 to order.

Surely Top Rank must have made money somewhere. They had those two previous Fury fights in Vegas which were empty but they took the hit knowing Fury would fight Wilder again.

They now saying they didn't even make money on the Wilder fight so exactly how much have they earned promoting Tyson Fury?

Bob Arum should be doing all he can to get out of another Wilder fight and get the AJ fight made.

On paper yes but the journalists are tweeting they broke even at best.

Remember costs have to be accounted for? Network split of the PPV, the huge guaranteed purses as well as promotion and marketing.

If reading correctly no fighter would have made any upside on the PPV as it at best broke even. That is kinda crazy for all fight which does 800k - 850k buys.

The numbers seems off to me. The guaranteed purses are too high.
