If they broke even like the same as Lewis vs Holyfield rematch, isn't that very good? The tickets sells for Wilder vs Fury rematch was huge.

cant offer him that however as both Whyte, Pulev and Usyk are all mandatories that have already been called. If one of those beats AJ or Fury everything is done for Wilder

I'm not a promoter but the name of the game is to make money. This fight should have been a huge win. Record gate, strong ppv numbers yet it's break even due to costs.

Still very good. I knew the ppv buys would be close to 800,00 especially since the price to order is 80.00 bucks. If it was 60.00 bucks atleast like the old days? I would've bet my money the ppv buys would do over 1 million buys.

Yeah but don't forget those numbers consist entirely of fans who dipped their hands into their pockets to watch The Gypsy King strut his stuff and his next PPV will skyrocket through the roof.

I was going to suggest that the numbers could be inflated even more for the third fight in the trilogy if some of Bootleg D's fans also dipped into their pockets too but after witnessing that biblical shellacking Fury administered to their boy on Saturday night they've all been on suicide watch and the prognosis is not looking good for them I'm afraid.

I thought it was going to do at least 1 million. PPV may be dying after all. This also makes a third fight less likely.

They are not bad numbers but paying both the guys silly money is not good business sense.
Joshua vs fury will easliily do 1.5- 2 mil imo

Those are actually really good #'s for a US PPV, especially in the HW division.

This isn't a SkySports PPV; US PPV is much more expensive just like seats at a fight in Vegas are exponentially more expensive than a seat in Cardiff or another UK stadium.

I don't think their 3rd fight will crack 500k buys due to the built in excuses made by WIlder and the one sided fashion Fury beat him in. Still the HW division hasn't seen more than 250K buys in over a decade since these 2 men fought each other.

No, it's not dead. People will buy as long as the fights are what they want. This was a fight demanded by the public nonstop since the first fight. I'm hardly surprised the numbers did great. Almost everyone was talking about this.

PPV is practically dead in the US so those numbers are pretty good. There's also the BT PPV numbers which haven't been accounted for.

Nobody realistically could think this was gonna do more than a million , I think those numbers are very good - I initially predicted 600k but the promotion was good and put everywhere so that done the numbers some good. Fair play to them.

is there a guarantee on the amount each fighter gets in the rematch? Cause it isn’t gonna do anywhere near 800k.

Exactly. How did each fighter command a reported guarantee of $28m?

They couldn't earn that money elsewhere. They hadn't earned anywhere near that in previous fights.

You pay a minimum revenue guarantee to get them to sign up and then you expect to share in the upside or downside.

If this is the highest figure for a HW fight in the US in 20 years and they made the biggest gate, then a properly costed event should've been highly profitable. Something doesn't add up.
