True, if his reflexes aren't sharp, he could have some major problems. But he's usually a surprisingly good gauge of distance, and he usually has a good idea to do, whether he's outside, mid-range, or in close quarters.
I definitely understand the temptation towards that line of reasoning, and in the end, it may well prove true. Whatever happens, may the best man win, and I hope we're in for a quality fight. This is as fired-up as I've personally been for any fight since the Kovalev-Ward rematch.
Well after watching Showtime All Access Episodes 1 and 2 I'm even more convinced Wilder will win. The Cunningham mauling tactics won't work, most of them were illegal and the ref wont allow it, I assume it's Jack Reiss. So what's Fury's plan? To outbox Wilder? Yeah that's actually pretty easy to do, Szpilka and Washington did, they got clipped eventually though and Wilder was ahead on the cards too. If this goes the distance Wilder wins on the cards (and it may be even more controversial than Canelo-GGG I).
I don't believe that's necessarily true. He can make mistakes as long as they aren't mistakes Wilder capitalizes on. I know I'm kind of stating the obvious, but what I mean is, I don't think Wilder is good enough to exploit most of Fury's potential mistakes. Of course, the more mistakes he makes, the more apt he will be to pay for one big time, but I think if Fury remains focused on neutralizing the right, any other mistakes he might make may not necessarily come with a price. If I was Fury, I'd be willing to make a mistake if it results in eating a jab, or even getting clipped with a left hook. It's mistakes that leave him open and/or out of position for a big right. That said, I have no idea what will happen, I don't have a lot of confidence in my pick, but I sure cannot wait to see how things play out.
Well, I hope it doesn't go down as a shady controversial decision either way. But sadly, it's always possible in boxing.
Well at this point Wilder IS the face of Showtime, more so than Charlos/Spence/Mikey. Him losing to Fury at home is not a desirable outcome, I mean it would be a huge blow to Showtime, Haymon and Espinoza after they've spent years to build him.
I don’t believe Fury has got it anymore, at least not on the level he had against Wladimir. Being out for so long, and living hard like he did, will take something out of you. He may only be 30, but it could be a very old 30 at this point. We have seen this type of thing before. Someone not taking care of themself, and losing the touch they had in the elite years. Especially Riddick Bowe spring to mind. He was equally bad in Golota I & II, despite looking in exceptional shape for their second fight. It didn’t matter, since his sharpness, durability and reflexes had been permanently damaged. And he was mostly guilty of liking food a little too much, and getting chuppy from time to time. It’s the same here, the only difference being Fury having a liking for drugs and alcohol aswell. I think Fury’s mind will know what to do, but his body won’t follow suit. Wilder KO after 8-10 rounds for me.
It is a very good question whether with Fury's challenges if he can produce enough athletic skill to eemerge victorious. Rummy I like your video & agree it is basically too close to call with any confidence. But the one thing you should have done is not just mention a layoff; but describe the very relevant gaining & loss of ~ 150 lbs.! And the drugs. And alcohol. Even the mental illness struggles are connected & vice versa. These factors cannot be ignored. Great champions from Jeffries to Ali have come back from retirement to being way out of shape-& usually cannot rise to the occasion. If he does mucho credit is deserved. He looks good & sharp in training, but whether that proves to be a mirage (at the highest level) is very much unknown.
I been screaming Wilder is a fraud on this site for years. Fury coming off a 3 year binge and having two fights where he couldn’t crack an egg just schooled him. Shame the judges took away an incredible performance and moment in the sport. Fury getting up in the 12th was a moment that could go on forever but in a draw it won’t
