If Hearn could write the script for Wilder vs Fury what would he wish for? Does he want this fight to be a big success and thus help to energise the heavyweight market? Does he want the fight to be a failure and thus reduce the winners demands for a fight with AJ? Would he actually prefer the two guys are enmeshed in rematches leaving the ground clear for him to put AJ vs Miller on DaZN?

How about the opponent? Would Rob McCracken prefer to prepare his charge to face an unbeaten Wilder or Fury? Which man would give AJ the most trouble in a unification fight?

How about AJ, who would he rather see opposite him in April, in the unlikely event a deal could be reached and rematches allowed it to happen?

AJ v Wilder does bigger numbers, AJ v Wilder is what his fighter wants, AJ v Wilder is what Wembley is booked for. Eddie wants AJ v Wilder in April more than hed want AJ v anybody in April. If Eddie really didnt want this fight he would be sitting on his hands and ignoring phone calls and emails from Wilders people and he certainly wouldnt be sending over a number of contracts, some signed so they cant back out.

I also think a clear Wilder victory would be Hearn, McCracken and AJ's choice.

For Hearn a Fury win removes his best chance of conquering the US market with AJ. All Fury brings is domestic interest and unrealistic demands and AJ has already maxed out the domestic market without having to deal with Warren and Tyson. Plus the fight itself may be a stinker for the casual audience if Fury is in Dortmund mode.

For McCracken, A confident fit Fury at the top of his game is a harder fight to prepare AJ for. If anyone is able to make AJ look 'robotic' it's a fit and in form Fury.

For AJ, Wilder is a straightforward opponent, albeit with the risk of a KO. Fury could make him look foolish even if he wins.

If Wilder beats Fury he could ironically be doing Hearn a favour. Removing Fury from the picture, at least for the medium term, could be to AJ's advantage.

Wilder KO. The worst thing that can happen is another Fury borefest

Hearn would prefer the event to be canceled. Puts him in head position as the premuim promoter, event coordinator, and able to dictate terms in the heavyweight division. Is Wilder vs Fury PPV even happening? If so what is the undercard a month out? Its being poorly promoted/managed, Hearn might get his wish.

Wilder is the stylistically better choice for Joshua.

Not only will the inevitable KO provide guaranteed entertainment, Wilder's also a considerably worse boxer. Joshua walks him onto a counter after 5-6 tetchy opening rounds IMO, not something he'd be able to do against a fully fit Fury.

OTOH though, I believe Wilder's unorthodox approach poses the bigger threat to Fury's chin. Joshua doesn't really do anything that Fury hasn't seen a million times before, but Wilder's sloppiness provides greater scope for Fury's fabled defense to fail.

Wilder ko, Hearn and aj really don’t want to see a fury who is a belt holder and at his best because everyone knows fury’s style is a nightmare for aj.

Wilder win as I think Fury would be even harder to deal with compared to Wilder. And that’s saying something but the sky sports/BT issue and Frank not wanting to concede Eddie would put on yet another big stadium fight and leave him in the small time and Fury’s complete unpredictability would all be a nightmare.

I think he wants a failure. And I say that not as a criticism but because it is a fairly logical result for him to want.

The best case scenario (though still very unlikely) of Fury Wilder is that it does well north of 500k ppvs, and is an exciting fight that Wilder wins at the end. Whatever Hearn may be saying to the contrary, realistically, that type of performance would mean it would make as much or more financial sense to have an AJ Wilder fight on US PPV than UK. It would mean Wilder would have to get about 50%, and the rest of the terms would have to be split fairly down the middle.

On the plus side for AJ/Hearn, this would open up the US PPV market for AJ. But, given their commitment to DAZN, is that even possible any more? It doesn't appear to be the direction they are headed. Moreover, AJ would make a TON off fighting Wilder in the UK at a higher percentage no matter how the US ppv does. Even assuming there is a US ppv against Wilder, his lowered percentage would mitigate strongly against the overall higher earnings. And even assuming he still beats Wilder, how many more us ppv fights are there for him? His career earnings potential goes up, after having opened the us ppv market (if it's even still available for him in light of DAZN), but there are a TON of question marks about to what extent he can capitalize on that.

And it would happen at the cost of stacking the deck as much as possible in arguably the most dangerous fight AJ has remaining before making the division run entirely through him. Hearn should want his choice of Judges and Refs to maximize AJs chances. As well as a home town advantage.

An over performance of Fury AJ ruins that, and it does so for highly questionable financial benefit. So I imagine Hearn wants it to fail. He probably should, and his public statements setting unlikely ppv goalposts for Wilder Fury almost certainly are an attempt to predefine the fight as a likely failure.

Yeah, I was just focusing onofinancials in the post i just made, so i left that unsaid. But I agree, Fury is a much tougher fight for AJ imo than Wilder.

Wilder to win the most boring decision of all time.

Regardless, we all know it's Whyte in April followed by fatso Miller in September.

A fuzzy Fury victory. Hearn can then say if and when AJ/Fury fight that Joshua is facing "the best" and sideline the always dangerous Wilder. You lot seem to be forgetting that Fury has looked dog**** in his last two outings.

After this match, the demand for an AJ bout against the winner will reach fever pitch. Hearn would much rather put AJ in with the light hitting Fury and risk a possible points loss which is redeemable in the long run, as opposed to getting sparked by Wilder in which case AJ/Hearn would lose endorsements before the post-fight interview.

Think like Hearn does, i.e. risk vs reward. No point in having "massive numbers" with AJ/Wilder if Joshua is at risk of getting sparked which you are with Wilder.

I think AJ and Hearn would prefer whoever wins the fight just to be willing to fight AJ in April. I reckon Fury will be the easiser fught fight to make of the two as Wilders team just doesn't have any interest in the AJ fight.

This is a good point. For a long time the assumption has been that AJ's best end destination is headlining PPV cards in the US, but Hearn's wagon is firmly tied to DAZN and he's trashing the US PPV model at every opportunity. So is that even where they want to go with AJ or are they looking for a Canelo type deal for him?
