Just because Helenius had bad nights against Duhaupas and Washington doesn't make them better names or opponents. Triangle theory is nonsense especially in the HW division. Helenius on the whole is a better opponent, and more dangerous fight on paper than either.

Just to pick this logic apart. Helenius destroyed Kownacki 2x who stopped Washington in just over 4 minutes.

Good fight I thought wilder would take a much easier opponent in his comeback fight.

The WBA mandatory is next up for the winner of Joshua-Usyk. The orgs go in order. IBF, WBO, WBA.

Pulev was the IBF. Usyk was the WBO. The WBA mando is next. The WBA mandatory hasn't received a shot since 2018 when Joshua fought Povetkin.

Hearn, Usyk and Joshua have all talked about making Wilder fight next. Wilder doesn't need a WBA rating to fight the loser of Usyk-Joshua II. But he would need a high WBA Rating to fight the WINNER of Usyk-Joshua II.

Beating the WBA #2 rated contender would put Wilder high in the WBA ratings.

I'm sure the WBA will figure out a way to have Hughie and Hunter fight for the right to face Dubois, while Matchroom scrambles to make a PPV between the winner of Usyk-Joshua II and Wilder, who they may say is the top 'available' contender. They (the WBA) want all the sanctioning fees they can get, and this is a way to get all of them they can get their greedy hands on.

The WBA isn't going to strip the Usyk-Joshua winner. So if the winner wants Wilder, and Wilder beats Helenius, the winner will probably get Wilder.

Either way, this puts Wilder in position to fight the winner of Usyk-Joshua II or the loser.

    Good pick by Wilder's team.

George Washington, a long time ago.

Good fight on paper, but it's a brutal KO outcome. And I mean Helenius gets KO'd.

I'm French and a big fan of Duhaupas but when Wilder took him he was unknown and around 40th on Boxrec.

Washington lost by KO all his major fights except... Helenius.

Helenius is a solid top 15 coming off of two great pre-limit wins against Kownacki.

WBA and in particular the WBC have history of of messing about their mandatories (Helenius claims he should be made WBA mandatory now dland threatened to take legal action against the WBA).

IBF is the only organisation that follow their rules and follow them strictly with mandatories. Considering Hrgovic and Zhang is in August, the winner will become mandatory I reckon that it was be called before the WBA.

    Fury was a cherry pick.

Still waiting for Wilder to step up, it's getting boring now.

You have a point. They were very flexible about the scheduling of Povetkin as WBA mandatory to Joshua whilst they were negotiating with Wilder years prior. So they could well be amenable to their champions demands if they prefer to fight Wilder.

However as mentioned. Warren/Queensbury have invested in Dubois and the WBA, so I don't see him lying down and accepting it. Then factor in the promise that the WBA would phase out the regular belt and it points to Dubois being mandatory for the WBA super champion.

Though that doesn't stop Wilder fighting the loser.

Edit: Then again, regarding stripping their champions. The WBA just stripped undisputed champion Josh Taylor, so it's not guaranteed they will play nice

They don't tend to skip over. Pulev was the IBF mandatory. That was in 2020. The WBA mando was four years ago.

Tua was the IBF #1 contender on two separate occasions. Both times, he tried to jump ahead and threatened or filed suits, and it didn't work either time.

If Matchroom wants Wilder, and Wilder knocks off the WBA #2 contender, and the WBA #1 and #3 contenders are fighting to face Dubois, Wilder can be the WBA's top available contender.

Or at least he'll be in position to be with a win over Helenius.

Helenius is a decent enough comeback opponent for Wilder considering everything.

It'll be interesting to see what Wilder's actually got left TBH. He took a lot of punishment in the last two Fury fights.

Plus I'm sure Helenius will make the very best of a decent payday and opportunity. He'll come to fight alright.

I'll very much look forward to it should it definitely happen.

To be fair, Helenius should never have lost to someone as woeful as Washington. He literally handed him the victory on a platter.

Helenius/Joyce is a great clash of styles.

I'll tell you something: Joe won't want Sugar Rob teeing off on him.
