Wilder should fight Jennings or Thompson instead never heard Duhaupas. How do you see Wilder do against Jennings?
I think it would be a very entertaining fight - both guys are rangy, Jennings has the skill advantage, Wilder the power advantage. Would be interesting to see how Wilder deals with someone like Jennings who would fancy the job and has all the tools to derail him. Would also be interesting to see Wilder going after Jennings to bomb him out - this could be the tactical error that would cost him the fight against an opponent like Jennings. But Wilder would receive credit for beating him in my eyes - would likely need to stop him though.
I'd make Wilder the slight favorite. Wilder's much more hated, for reasons good and bad, but really they've beaten similar comp. Matchup wise, I don't think Jennings stylistically poses a huge threat to Wilder, in terms of being able to crack his chin. He can maybe outbox Wilder for a while, but Wilder's got some big physical advantages and if he can't outbox Jennings, I think he'd catch him and ko him. And as powerful and great as Wlad is, he doesn't ko everyone, some people match up well or get lucky against him, and avoid a ko that they find with others (Haye, Williamson). That said, I'd only make him a slight favorite, wouldn't surprise me at all to see Jennings win by ko or decision.
I got Jennings all day. Had the pleasure of interviewing the man a year ago and he showed nothing but class through out the process. He's a humble guy that believes in himself and learns a helluva lot in each fight. Class will soon show against Wilder. Jennings is the real American hope.
I quite like Jennings too. He lost to Wlad, but who honestly doesn't. If he applies himself he can still remain strong in the division.
I like Jennings, but if I had to put money on this one it would be Wilder. The difference in power seems massive to me.
