Wilder would never fight Joyce. He always took the softest possible opponents, he thought Fury was shot before their first fight and got a rude awakening. I'm hoping for Joshua vs Joyce, as neither boxer has a history of avoiding anyone.
Joyce has size and a good jab. And a punch. He's very likely not going to just be a punching bag for a guy w/ less-than-desirable technique and shoddy defense of his own. This is a good fight. DW's experience SHOULD give him a slight advantage. I certainly would love to see this.
Joyce walks straight through Wilder leaving us all to question whether Wilder really had power or did all those bums just lay down the first time they got hit.
Joyce might not have the greatest movement, but he's constantly throwing and constantly coming forward and that makes it extremely difficult to fight back against him. If Wilder can stay outside of Joyce's range or effectively counterpunch then he could catch and maybe hurt Joyce, but what's he going to be doing in between those opportunities for attack when Joyce is prodding and thudding his jab in his face and body and cuffing him around the guard with sloppy but heavy arm punches? As for slipping and moving, Joyce isn't terrible at doing this himself. Many of Dubois's shots became glancing blows due to the way Joyce would lean back on impact, although it's still worrying how often he'll eat a flush shot. Jennings and Takam both caught him flush multiple times, and even Stiverne caught him with a decent OH right. He tends to eat big shots early in a fight though, before he's fully warmed up, so if he can get into his rhythm then by around the sixth or seventh round I can see him start to really take over if Wilder hasn't landed the boom by then.
Why would he spend thirty minutes getting hit by Wilder? If Wilder had a chance to land a KO blow it's early on before Joyce has established his rhythm. The longer the fight goes the more dominant Joyce will become. But yes, those early rounds will be hairy ones.
Joyce gets hit. Wilder manged to land some clean shots on Fury. It's a tough one but I think at this stage JJ is too much for Wilder. Wilder didnt react well to Fury's pressure. JJ will be up in dat grill
Your talking like he is gonna get non stopped punched for 30 mins. We all know Wilder he lands about 1 meaningful punch every 3 rounds.
Unstoppable force vs immovable object Part 2 What we learnt from Fury, that the immovable object hits back.
No way does Wilder beat Joyce on points! Joyce has probably the highest work rate of any world ranked HW whereas Wilder will happily give away rounds to land the perfect KO punch. If Wilder thought he had trouble dealing with Fury's mauling, brawling style, size and physicality, he would find Joyce an absolute nightmare. Wilder of 4-5 years ago would have had a very good chance of landing a hail Mary but, the current inactive and battle weary Wilder I could see getting man handled, jabbed up and steadily beaten down by the Juggernaut in a very entertaining but, ultimately futile effort.
True. That said...if DW does land repeatedly...win or Lose, JJ's chin might not be the same his next fight. And if DW lands a lot, great chin or not, JJ could get stopped. TKO or ref mercy stoppage even.
Wilder wouldn't take this in a million years. As a match in a dream world then I would fancy Joyce who's gas tank and chin will see Wilder run out of ideas fairly quickly. Joyce is a thick set big man with far more skill than Wilder and will bully him. Wilder never took a real threat on when he was a belt holder. he only took on Fury because he though he was damaged goods that didn't have the power to hurt him.....he was wrong.
An older and more shop worn version of Wilder Vs Duhaupas X3. Joyce is a much bigger framed, heavier and naturally stronger man, with a far higher work rate, ram-rod jab, heavy hands and a granite chin. Wilder gets a sustained beating probably worse than what Fury dished out. Don't forget, Joyce always comes in shape and has a similarly endless gas tank. I actually see Joyce as probably the worst match up style possible for a Wilder who has had 2 devastating beat downs in his last 2 fights and has been ravaged by hand and bicep injuries.
Hard, dangerous fight for both men. Joyce gets hit a lot so being in with a devastating puncher like Wilder is of course a serious risk. But then Joyce’s style is also all wrong for Wilder. Big Joe sets a phenomenal pace for a big man and is one of the strongest heavyweights around, maybe the strongest. We’ve seen Wilder get outworked and thrown about. It’s a real interesting one.
