No he has never been very lean. It is hard to describe the differences in how lean somebody is, the best I can say is that I think he just looks softer than usual. Of course when his muscles are pumped up with blood in the gym, and during a fight his body will look a lot leaner, and bigger.

I have noticed someone else on the forum pointing out Wilder might be suffering from anxiety before this fight, so he is not eating as well as usual. It is a possibility.

76-71 in Wilder's favour. Wilder has got a very slight boost in the polls after the weigh in.

Could be many reason why Wilder weigh-in with 214lbs. Anxiety and pressure are one reason. Maybe he was ill and lost some weight due to that. They were some rumours about that. Makes sense after the weigh-in. Probably it was his plan.

I think this will be Wilder's coming out party. Ortiz looks to still have it, I don't know about the rumors of his age he looks to be a solid pro on top of his game still. I don't know what to expect but I think Wilder will use his jab which to me looks to be one of the best out there. I think Wilder will be more busy and will throw his great straight right hand along with his wild flurries of punches and get to Ortiz at some point. I look for Wilder to win by decision or knockout at any point in the bout. Ortiz could still prevail and prove to be the best heavyweight in the world yet though. This to me rival Joshua vs Klitschko as being the best heavyweight match up in over a decade.

Going with Wilder. Ortiz is too old, too slow and has been less active. Wilders people have been extra careful when selecting opponents and i believe it's the same in this fight.

not sure why its being shown on 2 different channels

maybe they have split the sky sports packages now into different sections no idea.

we pay enough for sky for them not to have any ppv fights

Not really. I don't think anyone thinks Wilder, or Ortiz are close to Joshua's level.

I used to think that Ortiz actually did have several good wins on his resume, in Thompson, Scott, and Jennings. I was a fan of each of those boxers, especially Jennings but let's honest about his resume.

Thompson was shot, done, at the twilight of his career when he fought Ortiz. Thompson had lost 5 out of his last 7 matches, Scott was 3-3-1 in his last 7 matches including Ortiz. Thompson was nowhere near the quality American opponent that he was much earlier in his career. Thompason IMO, in his prime, was a classic case of the underrated heavyweight who flew under the radar in terms of his accomplishments, even when he was standing directly under the light. This wasn't the same Thompson however.

Scott has always shown boxing skill and being capable to hang with the best in the division, based entirely on the eye's view of his skill. His heart however, has to be questioned severely. He has always shown an almost Golota like tendency to fold under pressure. Keep in mind that Scott is a fighter who was into his pro career for approximately 10-12 years before actually stepping into quality opposition. That should tell you something about either his management/corner/handler's or his confidence level.

Jennings, I might be his biggest fan on here. I love his enthusiasm, athletic ability, will power, and also his post-fight analysis of boxers. The truth though is that Jennings got outboxed, wrestled, and grappled by Klitschko and basically showed that his head was not even remotely in the ring with Ortiz and then disappeared from the ring for almost 2 years following the match. He almost retired after the consecutive losses and showed that during the Ortiz match, that the Klitschko loss got to him mentally. This is however, a quality win for Ortiz and I think, between Wilder's and Ortiz's wins the best of the list.

Make no mistake about it, behind the scenes, I guarantee that neither Wilder nor his corner wanted this, just like they were exposed against Povetkin as talking tough in public but attempting to squash the match privately. You can almost bet on that. Big Al is probably the one who’s told them that he has to be against something other than cans or else he’s not going to fetch anything resembling 30% of the purse against Joshua. This is a Big Al move, no doubt about it.

Ortiz is in a lot of ways a higher level Stiverne, which is why Wilder’s management (Haymon) team wanted this match. His sitting back and waiting to counter punch style is entirely wrong for Wilder. All that Wilder has to do is use movement and a jab to win this match. Ortiz struggles to create offense, relies on counter punching, but since he’s slowed in the last few years that will place him a disadvantage against a much quicker and powerful puncher.

Ortiz has looked quite old and slow in recent matches unless he's been placed against complete cans. Even then, he struggled to get Allen out of the ring, granted that Allen has a tough chin. It's a shame that Ortiz hasn't been able to fully display his once impressive skill level on higher level competition and maximize his potential. He's also been inactive at anything resembling a world class level for several years now.

The Ortiz of 2012-2015, I would take him in a second over Wilder. It would be probably embarrassing for Wilder. This Ortiz? It's at best 60/40 for Wilder if he truly is as slow as he's been recently. If not, I'd take Ortiz. if Ortiz can pull Wilder into counter punches, not take the bait of Wilder's movement and chase him like he did with Scott, and instead focus on the jab, counter punching, body shots, a severe focus on defending against the right, and when in close utilize his once deadly uppercuts like against Jennings, THEN, by turning back the clock I would take Ortiz in a second. That Ortiz would body Wilder.
