Wilder vs Povetkin Predictions

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by prophetofboxing, Apr 5, 2016.

  1. Easy night for Wilder, this fight will last 2 rounds. It has NOTHING to do with size. Jess Wilard was 6'6 and Dempsey was like 6'1 and Dempsey beat him down, so let's stop with the 21st century HW's there have been tall big hw's throughout the history of boxing, it's not the size of the fighter it's size of the fight in the fighter. Prime Mike Tyson would clean house in the 2ks. Even as small as he was.
    Back to the Wilder fight.
I think his power is valued correctly, devastating puncher, who has the added gift of knowing when to pull the trigger.
His resume is undervalued as 3 of the fighters he beat have gone on to beat contenders and solid fighters. Povetkin on the other hand can not say the same about his resume, in fact the one loss on his record was a devastating one at the hands of a one dimensional robot, imagine what a fluid and powerful fighter like Wilder will do. Wilder will destroy Povetkin
    2 rounds.

Wilder will win but it won't be an early knockout.. maybe an early knockdown

Povetkin survived against a dirty Wlad who repeatedly clinched him to death.

Wilder will likely win TKO later rounds or UD

Povetkin is a straight out beast. This could be a very exciting war. I'm picking Povetkin mid rounds if Wilder does what he normally does, I'm expecting a much more conservative approach this time.

50/50 fight that I lean toward Wilder. And it has everything to do with size. There are weight classes for a reason. And I posted a thread a day ago about how you can track the progression in height in the HW division over the last 60 years. The average top 10 contender has grown over 4 inches in that time. Do you think that is coincidence? Sure Dempsey beat Tunney, Haye and Chagaev beat Valuev too, but size is a big advantage and with boxing's talent pool expanding, HW's are getting bigger. Fighter's Povetkin's size will have a tough time in the future.

Yeah, the height thing is the reason I am not saying this is an easy Povetkin win - if Povetkin was scaled up to 6ft4 or more then I'd be confident but for now I'm content with 50:50.

Povetkin i think. Wilder has some serious physical advantages but is a poor technician where as Povetkin is a very good one. Both have more than enough power but i just see the better technician getting the upper hand, which is the Russian.

Hope im wrong though im a bit of a Wilder fan.

Are you talking about the same 1 dimensional robot that knocked Wilder onto his ass and had him doing the salsa every other round in SPARRING? Imagine what a fighter that made the distance with Robotschko would do to Wilder. It's not going to be pretty.

Povetkin by early and brutal KO and I am STILL willing to take a lifetime ban bet against anyone who says different.

Wilder is not in Povetkin's league, period. Styles only make fights if the two fighters are in some way shape or form comparable.

I'm leaning towards Povetkin, but I can envisage Wilder winning. It wouldn't surprise me if Wilder won, put it that way

Povetkin is more skilled and has the experience, and also carries concussion inducing power

Povetkin by KO. Too good, too experienced. Not sure why people think he struggles against tall fighters. Wilder would've been KO'd in 5 by Klitschko.
