Ali would've expose them? If Norton broke Ali's jaw, what do you suppose a much bigger and stronger Wlad or Vitali would do? My point, is Ali was not perfect, so do not glorify him. Why are you comparing durability and stamina of super middleweights and heavyweights? crazy because you can't compare apples to watermelons. Of course the lighter guys will have better endurance as they are not encumbered by excess muscle.

Wilder's resume consists of a win over Stiverne, and a Stiverne a respected fight scribe said had it on very good authority went into camp GROSSLY overweight (I think it was like at least 40lbs heavier than what he weighed on the night), spent the last few weeks of it sweating off the mounds of blubber in the steam room, and was seen out partying numerous times in the weeks leading up to the fight.

Other than that, who else has that lanky tooth picked-legged moonshine drinking goon beaten? His good buddy Malik Scott? A win that is highly suspicious to say the least. Even the audience attending the fight booed it heartily as soon as they got a look at Scot diving to the canvas on the slow mo replay on the big screen.

A mentally ill puny little WW Charlie Z who your grandma would stand no less than a 50/50 chance of licking.

Wilder has also been dropped by a 400 lb walking blob, hit the canvas hard and hurt by can Harold Sconiers and he was also knocked silly by a Russian CW in the amateurs. That Russian dude looked like a bantamweight in comparison to Wilder. It was hilarious watching him do a chicken dance and Irish jig at the same time after getting battered by someone half the size of him. He was only a clean shot or two from getting KTFO before the referee jumped in and waved it off.

And who in god's name had Stiverne beaten when in a healthy state to make him such an impressive scalp? Stiverne's resume consists of pair of wins over Chris Arreola, getting stopped by a journeyman (albeit prematurely) and getting thoroughly out boxed by a shot 55 year old Raymond Austin for most of the fight who Wlad K knocked a prime version of silly in two rounds without using his right hand.

If the corpse of a 55 year old Ray Austin can totally out box Stiverne for the vast majority of their fight, then I'm sorry but I fail to see what's so special Wilder doing so against a sick one or indeed even a healthy one.

Other than Arreola and an old near dead Austin who was literally dragged out of his hospital bed for the fight, fact is Stiverne hasn't beaten anyone at all.

And let's take it one step further.

Who has Arreola ever beaten of note? He has lost everytime he's stepped up against anyone who was half decent and not a member of the American club circuit. He got spanked silly by Vitali K and he also got his ass paddled by blown up CW Adamek, who let's be honest had no right campaigning up at HW, spanked his backside too. Arreola's only been successful against the Seth ''Hype Job of the Century'' Mitchell's and the Brian ''Minty'' Minto's of the world.

[boxed ears] "you shouldn't hate us because we're the best athletes"

Damn, this guy makes dinovelvet look like a raving Klitschko fan :nut

Serge, check Stiverne doing the 'ice bucket challenge' on youtube, he looks fat as hell in it and it was taken few months before the fight.

    Povetkin by KO.

I was worried about my pick between Stiverne/Wilder. I picked Stiverne because of how unproven Wilder was, but I knew that Wilder had the stylistic advantage. Stiverne was a "lazy" counter puncher. He often laid on the ropes and tried to find that one counter while receiving shots. Something I knew he couldn't do against Wilder because of the reach and power.

I'm fully behind Povetkin in this fight. He'll knockout Wilder.

[boxed ears] "We ARE the best boxers but our boxers are in bigger sports like American football and basketball."

Sure, and Sweden is still a world military power, but their soldiers are too busy being hippies.:rasta

[boxed ears] "Can you honestly look at someone like Orakpo or Mays and think Stiverne and Jennings are stronger"

If brute strength was everything then Bob Sapp would be an MMA legend and Mirko Filipovic would be pounded hamburger. :think Not to mention that Valuev would have been the greatest ATG boxer. :nono

[boxed ears] "This Klitschko thing is totally messing with your perception of reality."

There's nothing wrong with my perception of reality. It's clear that the Klitschkos are seriously big and skilled guys, who have taken a average era (I don't buy the "this is the worst era ever" theory) by the horns and ruled it with an iron fist. :deal People complain about Wlad's "hugging" and personally I hate it when fighters clinch each other like a couple at the prom, but - let's be fair - it's nothing new either. Hopkins is another clinch meister that just kills boxing for me, yet he also gets away with it. :-(( Ergo: change the rules, enforce them, or accept that within this paradigm Wlad is the best there is, by a long mile.

And yes, I also think that Povetkin would put Wilder to sleep.

Here's what I think has happened with boxing: a lot of impoverished east bloc folk have realised that they can make a living by pounding face where they could not do so a couple of decades ago. This has brought a rush of new talent out. Couple this with the relative wealth of the west (where there are easier ways to make a living other than by getting punched) and you may well have the reason why the US isn't necessarily the top of the boxing heap anymore.

Hey, whatever. I'm neither east bloc nor American. I just want to see good fights. And I have no problem with the Klitschkos, Kovalevs and Golovkins of the boxing world, their genuine and humble demeanour is a refreshing change from what we were used to. :thumbsup

I don't see what my political views - which are conservative and libertarian - has to do with Ali and the debate we are having.

Yes I stated that the smaller guys of the 168 are better athletes and Ali was not the greatest..... that honor belongs to Joe Louis.

Boxed Ears, you are very ignorant to assume my nationality: I am an American that loves my country; however I am intellectually honest enough to know when we don't have the best heavies in boxing (MMA is another story). I also think America should embrace the Klits more as I would be proud as hell to call them Americans is they were. So, in closing: I am an American and Active Duty Military ( and anyone who thinks snipers are cowards can say it to my face as I have seen them in action and have been trained by Seals), and I love steak, pizza, and Bald Eagles. Please don't make anymore false inferences about my nationality or my political ideology. And people should be jealous of America because it's the tits.

If shot to **** Wladimir who's jab has quickly deteriorated can make Povetkin do the silly dance with exactly that, a jab, then imagine what Wilder would do to Povetkin's already huge and presumably chronically swollen nose with his straight right hand.

To be honest I think Wilder has so much power, his punches would give Povetkin a new hair cut, a decent one.
