It’s an empty threat meant to increase Wilder’s leverage.

The only somewhat interesting aspect of this news is that Wilder is getting frustrated with Haymon.

Wilder-Ruiz is a fun fight but it's also a comical mismatch. If Wilder makes two fights with Ngannou (one boxing, one MMA) the first should be a comical mismatch (though with a potential big boxing puncher with a lot of height and reach, a strong chin and a wild style, who knows) but the rematch is fascinating and has huge stakes.

Let's say Wilder catches Ngannou with a few right hands in the boxing match and KO's him in round 3. Ngannou goes into the MMA rematch knowing that Wilder can blast him out quickly (he's also never been KO'd before) so mentally it will be a huge struggle. Bear in mind that Ngannou mentally collapsed for a while post-Stipe 1 (where he got beaten badly over the distance) and fought terrified against the far less athletic, stubbier MMA power puncher Lewis, losing a decision. And in the MMA rematch, Wilder wears tiny gloves, with no 10 count! Maybe he goes for broke and lands a big right hand off the rip, finishing Ngannou soon after, rather than waiting to be leg kicked and wrestled to death, then finished.

If Wilder was to beat Ngannou in the MMA fight, doesn't that make him MMA's, or at least the UFC's, lineal champion? That would be a great combat sports achievement, similar to Pereira beating Adesanya recently with little more than his kickboxing but vastly greater in magnitude because it's HW. And let's be honest: boxing fans and UFC fans would tune in hugely to Wilder-Ngannou (Mayweather-McGregor setting a precedent). Wilder is regarded by casuals as probably only a bit better technically than Ngannou as a boxer and they both have instant fight ending power, especially Wilder in the boxing gloves.

It would also enable Wilder to potentially steal a payday from Fury down the road, which is funny and good for boxing as it keeps Fury away from a quasi-exhibition. Fury wouldn't have much/any chance against Ngannou under MMA rules but Wilder does because of his punchers chance, which would be a huge practical joke on MMA.

Ruiz should face Hrgovic in that case.

Tyson Fury vs Andy Ruiz at Wembley in April on ESPN PPV.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Deontay Wilder in May on ESPN PPV or DAZN PPV.

Wilder would be dumb to fight Ngannou in mma.

Fighters are too brave for their own good.

Just knock him out in boxing and then focus on making the AJ fight ffs.

wilder vs francis is a bigger money fight. Imagine getting paid more money to fight a guy that can't even box, its a no brainer. Ruiz is actually a little dangerous for wilder.

Al acts literally exactly like Arum and Oscar but the cheerleaders deny it.

That's why Wilder ducked AJ. That's why Spence, Thurman, Porter and Danny only fought each other. They couldnt even fight Manny unless Pac joined their circus.

That's why Tank fights TBA and "insert whatever unranked bum" and the PPV buys are like 50k lmao.

PBC NUMBA ONE doing nothing but in-house fights (sarcasm)

If Eddie Hearn wants to make Wilder-Joshua later this year ... here's his chance to sign Wilder.

Then Eddie can stage those Wilder-Joshua, Wilder-Whyte fights he always wanted to make.

Let's see if Eddie steps up.

If Wilder is in the other corner, Eddie might even finally be able to sell some US PPVs.

Better do something before Arum or the Usyk folks step in with a better offer.

I don't get it: WBC managed to force Fury-Wilder III even though Wilder seems to have missed the deadline, but can't force Ruiz-Wilder. Clearly WBC still has a crush on Wilder and it seems to protect him now, as Ruiz is seen with less chance of winning, but is a threat big enough for the dosser.

    WBC heavyweight ranking:
    Champ: Fury
    1. Wilder
    2. Ruiz
    3. Sanchez
    4. Makhmudov
    5. Joshua

So how exactly number 1, the main title contender, can't fight with number 2? Does anyone see him daring to face Sanchez, Makhmudov, even Joshua? It's not like facing Helenius who's not even listed at present.

This is what I was thinking, was the fight ever really confirmed? And yes, Wilder is not gonna get the money that he saw vs. Fury again, hell he's not even a titlist anymore, why he thinks he would command that is goofy

I don’t blame him, if he can make some incredible amount to fight Francis, he should absolutely do it. That is something that could be sold and make both dudes a tremendous amount of money. I don’t necessarily love it, but I get it.
