So if Wilder beats Ruiz does that mean that Fury is obligated to face Wilder a fourth time? Come on, enough is enough.
It's an interesting match up, more curious to see if Ruiz will see the final bell or if he can muster up another AJ 1 performance by stopping Wilder.
In his performance against Parker and Joshua 1, I really thought Ruiz could be an interesting opponent for Wilder. But from what I've seen of him against Joshua 2 and Ortiz, this is a free pass for Wilder to get another title shot against Fury. After 2 losses this is too little to earn a title shot. I have nothing against this fight as such, but as an eliminator for the WBC it is certainly not good.
The fact that it is ordered doesn't mean the fight is on. People need to stop with the clickbait thread titles.
Ruiz has not fought like a top ten heavyweight since his surprise win over Joshua. He seems complacent and lazy. This will be a fairly easy win for Wilder. Because Ruiz has a decent chin, Wilder may need to land several of his windmill haymakers to stop the fat man. But the outcome is certain: Wilder by KO/TKO. A long-armed boxer like Wilder will find Ruiz is easy to hit. I have absolutely no doubt he will be stopped. You are correct. Wilder's manager Finkel has said they would sooner fight Joshua or Usyk next, but if neither of those fights can be made, then Wilder will face Ruiz. Personally, I'd sooner see Wilder in with Joshua or Usyk. Either would be a more interesting opponent than Ruiz, since I am nearly 100% certain Wilder would stop Ruiz.
Both could probably box around February but I'm afraid they'll wait for Cinco de Mayo because Canelo isn't going to box.
50/50 fight for me, so I havnt voted. Allthough Wilders heart cannot be questioned, I still have doubts over his power due to his past cherrypicking and dubious KOs. For me, If Ruiz can take AJs power, then he can take Wilders. Good fight, but I hope Wilder goes the AJ route instead, but I dont think Wilder or AJ really want to fight eachother tbh so this will do.
Not a bad fight at all! I figured Wilder would do as little as possible to get another title shot. But this is a good one.
