What is this about Wilder being a lot bigger than Lewis and Morrison (chitown post)? He's a lanky beanpole whose highest fighting weight hasn't topped the 220s.
I definitely think Morrison, at his best.. would be too explosive and powerful for Wilder. That left hook of Morrisons was hard yes but also a lot faster than people realize. And The Duke ripped to the body VERY well.
He's weighed in for his last four fights at around 228.5lbs. Morrison at his peak was around 226lbs, slightly lighter but not enough for anyone to notice. Lewis at his peak was a solid 240, way bigger than Wilder.
Who? Wilder and Morrison or Wilder and Lewis? Wilder would look like a skinny kid next to Lewis, so yes, the size differential would be very noticeable.
That doesn't really answer my question though. Neither Morrison nor Lewis were sporting huge beer guts; they were solid and ripped at the weight. So how is Wilder bigger if he weighs marginally more than one and considerably less than the other?
Higher metabolism that very Athletic people seem to have? The guys a very ripped up, great conditioned heavyweight. His upper body is huge, he isn't skinny like you claim. http://static.independent.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2014/12/27/17/Deontay-Wilder.jpg Look at how much bigger he looks next to Wlad. http://www.fightsaga.com/media/k2/items/cache/0d8bbaf44d5edf791eeea8374455d5fd_XL.jpg I really don't see how you would think Lewis was bigger than Wilder. He certainly doesn't look that way in this picture. http://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=M+T99BnB&id=57613ACF86B1A82E7F12FA9874AF2B3673F88946&q=lennox+lewis+images&simid=607998037035124985&selectedIndex=45&ajaxhist=0 Wilder imo is naturally bigger than Lewis Absolutely!.
Agreed, and therefore, in today's world of HWs, he really needs to be coming in closer to 240 imo. Those legs will be his downfall. Literally...
Wilder has wide shoulders and a tapering V section which can fool the eye into thinking he's larger than he is. Both Morrison and Lewis were considerably thicker set guys with most of the weight around their core and in their legs. Wilder's legs are nonexistent. The weight tells it all really. Lewis fought his best fights in the 240s and didn't look remotely overweight. Maybe Wilder will fill out as he gets older, but he's already in the 30s and still relatively lean. It's fair to say at this point that's just the way he's built.
