Could be wrong, but I think Wilder is marginally taller. But yeah, Valuev was the only one significantly taller, and Vitali tried to fight him. But Valuev turned down the most lucrative offer of his career to stay retired.

Mainly, Vitali just fought few top opponents remotely close to him in height. Not really his fault, no one really stood out, but it would have been nice if he'd fought a Dimitrenko instead of a Charr in one of his voluntarys against lower contenders.

 

I see nothing Wilder does that would remotely trouble Vitali. Wilder's best hope of success lies in trying to bumrush Vitali and catch him leaning back with one of those big right hands, then follow up with everything he's got. Sort of follow the Lennox blueprint. Wilder ain't no Lennox though.

 

Vitali destroys this glass jawed fraud in his prime, likely in a round or two. Even today's ancient Vitali would have a good shot of shattering Wilder's fragile mandible.

 

Agree, ancient Vitali could take a bathroom break, knock out Wilder in between and go back to doing paper work.

 

Vitali is all wrong for Wilder with his height, reflexes, and awkward style.

Prime Vitali had a great workrate for his size. He'd overwhelm Wilder.

 

Vitali is just obviously WAY smarter than Deontey and is a better boxer. Stronger too.
